Obtaining access to Encore Pro SQL data?

Sorry in advance for the technical questions, but...

Has anyone figured out how to access and manipulate the SQL database which contains the Encore Pro data files? I suspect Derek who wrote the MyEncore software obviously has a good grip on the situation, but since he is not around I was hoping someone else might know...

Specifically, I am looking for the following:

How do you access the data files out of SQL?
- Where are the files located?
- What are the table names?
- What program do you use to access the data?
- Are you using Excel or Access and doing an ODBC link, etc.?
- Can you copy the data from an Excel file (or Access) back into the SQL database if you delete the wrong file? If yes, is this done by simple cut & paste?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EncorePro just uses MS SQL Server, so any language you can access MS SQL Server from could be used.

If I weren't having trouble getting the MyEncore to work, I could care less about accessing the data.

However, like many other CpapTalk forum members, I am having trouble getting MyEncore to pull many of the stats it should be pulling (Pressure, Leak, Apnea Info, etc.). Since I happen to know a thing or two about MS Access and Excel, I would like to be able to link (via ODBC) to the data and develop my own charts (until a fix is created for MyEncore).

I hope this better explains my reasons for wanting to access the data...not to mention that it is a challenge for me!

I have done this by creating an OBDC link under "System DNS". Choose SQL Server. Fillin the correct user name and password then server was "localhost"

when you install EncorePro on the computer it will ask you if you want to enter a password for the database or use System Access or disable it.

in older versions of MSSQL it used to be sa login and sa password. Due to security reasons in the later versions (think starting with SQL 7.5 or 2000) they changed it requiring a stronger password.

So you have to input a password (like: encore06) at the install screen then remember that password and input it again in the MyEncore password panel so the MyEncore can access the SQL database.

You still have to open EncorePro and use it to download the data from the SmartCard then once it is in the database you can read and manipulate the data with MyEncore. MyEncore is just another interface to access the database with. You should also be able to access the data via ODBC as mentioned.

I am able to connect to the Encore Pro database using ODBC. However, there only appear to be about 36 tables, and none of them appear to contain my user specific data.

What could I be missing? If I recall correctly, I did not use a password when setting up the SQL database.

I downloaded SQL Server 2005 Express Management Server and it appears I can see different tables with data. Since I am no SQL expert, I cannot figure out how to see the tables through ODBC.

Well, the BEEF is that I spent some bucks knowing this information was available and so I bought it, installed it, and the best part (MyEncore) won't work. I would like to monitor MY information the best way I can and therefor feel that this additional information might be helpful. By the way, I see that if all the information I need is in Encorepro, why is it you feel it necessary to have MyEncore to retrieve your information????Are you that much better than I might be in wanting or needing to be able to track my data?

I use it because it works for me, I could also use the original program as it is the same data, The reason I use it is the screen size is smaller and it can sit side by side with my excel file and not overlap, so I don't have to click back and forth to transfer the data. Let me know if you find the Holy Grail of the missing data, maybe theirs music in that server and my speakers not working. Jim

I have to retract this, I did find some Beef, A couple of slices, of which are necessary for the full flavor of a meal.

They are: Time spent in Apnea, and the Avg Length of Apnea.

Encore Pro doesn't make this easy to see, and it could relate well to O2 De-Stats. It probably ranks as important as the number of AHI's.

Also as a final note: when you erase a file in Encore Pro, and the same data isn't in another entry, it leaves a, data hole, in MyEncore, and once you do it gone for good.

I had it backed up in Excel, so I didn't lose anything, but that hadn't dawned on me before, I was wondering, where's the Beef Myself. Jim

So, just how do you get in to or extract the "Time spent in Apnea or Average length of Apnea" in EncorePro???? I have learned how to get to a bunch of info in EncorePro so far but have not seen anything to let me access that information, for which I wanted MyEncore for in the first place.
I am beginning to think a complete reinstall of Encore Pro and paying more attention to the pass word issue might be the core of my troubles getting MyEncore to function. BTW, I have gone down through "Restless Gal's" list of links through about 20/25 so far and nothing helped...

I finally got the basic stats into a Works spread sheet but nothing came of that....

Any more slices of the 'beef' you can part with would be appreciated.

Encore pro, doesn't make the time spent in Apnea or their length clear, that where MyEncore shines. I don't put in a password in Encore Pro, it's always done fine, with MyEncore after I used the correct version 15b7. Jim

I too, like grybeard3 followed Restless Gal's forum post to no avail. That is the main reason why I am trying to find another way to access the data.

I have been able to access the Encore Pro database using "ODBC", but for some reason still cannot see my actual user/data files.

BTW: Goofproof- I'm glad you saw the light...there really are pieces of information that are much more readily available in MyEncore that cannot be extracted from Encore Pro. When MyEncore isn't working (as many are experiencing), it becomes a frustrating ordeal.

Any other suggestions out there for accessing the Encore Pro user files?
