Elan Mask

Post by Noclue » Tue Feb 02, 2016 8:27 am

So, I have been reading reviews, and although the majority of them weren't very good, I decided to go with it anyway! I am SOOO glad I did! I have been using the Elan mask for 2 weeks now, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I do have some questions about it though, so if there is anybody out there who actually uses and likes this mask, can you please give me a shout? Thanks!

If you go ahead and post your questions someone may come along later to answer them.

Hi Noclue,

I have used it for quite awhile as it is the only mask I can tolerate. I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Glad it is working for you.

Thanks! My question is this...it says that the mask should be snug, but not tight. When I wake up in the morning, I have marks on my cheeks from the mask. Does this mean that I am, indeed wearing it too tight, or is this normal for the Elan mask? Also, how often should it be replaced? Thanks!!

Hi Noclue,

You definitely may be wearing it too tight. Before I explain how you can avoid that, can you please fill out your equipment profile by using the link in my signature? I need to know what machine you are using and the pressure or pressure range.

As soon as you are eligible for a new mask from your insurance company, I would get one and rotate it with the current one. That way, you will always have a backup in case one breaks down. Here are the signs.

1. Straps keep coming undone in spite of being washed in hot water.
2. Mask easily detaches from threaded connector when putting it on.

Okay, I filled out the equipment profile. I selected Resmed 8 machine, only because that was all they had to choose from, I actually use a Resmed 9 machine with a heated humidifier. My pressure level is 6.

There are several choices if you scroll down to S9. We need to know if it is Escape, Elite, or Autoset. If you can't get it to show up after choosing it. You can go into Edit Signature and just type it in. Then it will show up under the line, like I have other info under mine. You can also type in your pressures there.

It is an auto set. My humidifier just says H5i. I hope I put the right thing on my equipment profile. I will go back and edit now!! Thanks for your help!

I have wondered about this mask and wanted to try it. How is it with leaks? How does the material feel?

I recently decided to buy this mask and give it a try.
