Hybrid Mask
Anyone have any experience with the hybrid mask. My doctor says a Nasal would be better suited for my high pressure. I have a nasal but I have become a mouth breather and love to make motor boat sounds when I can keep mouth closed. I know about taping and chin straps just don't want to add another routine to go to sleep.

Re: Hybrid Mask
I use the same machine as you do and I also run high pressure (20 - 25 cm H2O). I have been using the Amara View for a little over a month and really like it. It will handle the higher pressur just fine. I made liners for it from the material in an old tee shirt.

My auto machine regularly hits pressures of 18 and 20. I use an Innomed Hybrid mask and my leak is zero most nights. I have used the Innomed since it was first introduced, maybe about eight years ago.sleepwiggler wrote:for my high pressure.

My pressure starts at 19 and hits 24. I remember reading somewhere else that a nasal cushion was better for higher pressure but I love my FFM.
Re: Hybrid Mask
My husband's CPAP pressure is a straight 19, and he was told by his sleep doctor and DME provider that a full-face mask would be the best for him, and that's what he uses. I have used the Innomed Hybrid mask since I started on CPAP and love it (but my pressure is only 8 to 9). He tried my a Hybrid and never could get it to stay sealed enough to even get to sleep.

Re: Hybrid Mask
What are your AHI and leak rates like when you upload to Sleepyhead? If you do, that is? If there acceptable, and you like your mask- I say keep doing what you're doing.
Re: Hybrid Mask
I was sent home from my titration study with a nasal pillow-type mask. I had a FFM delivered with the machine. Started out using the pillows, but I had issues. Never could get it seated quite right, or get it to stay where it needed to stay. So a few days into treatment I switched to the FFM. I have never had leak issues with the FFM and I'm also now on a range of 18-20.0cm. I just received a new nasal mask. I tried it the other day, and wow, it was WAY different than the FFM. The high pressure was MUCH more noticeable to me. On the initial try it was more difficult to retain the seal. And if I opened my mouth, well, it was interesting. In fairness, I have not experimented with it for long yet. I didn't want to give up a decent night's sleep when I had to work in the morning. When I get a few days off and can risk a bad night, I will give it another shot.WearyOne wrote:My husband's CPAP pressure is a straight 19, and he was told by his sleep doctor and DME provider that a full-face mask would be the best for him, and that's what he uses. But, it is WAY different for me than a FFM. As in all things, your mileage may vary.

Re: Hybrid Mask
I agree with lots of the comments above, the Amara View is a great mask for any pressure. Remember that there is nothing wrong with using a full face mask. Talk toy our provider or DME company about possibly trialing the mask given your situation.

Re: Hybrid Mask
ordered the innomed/respcare hybrid mask, tried it on today. Its not going to work for me. I think my face is too fat and my beard doesnt help. If anyone wants to buy it, i wore it for 5 minutes, washed it and put it back in the box

Re: Hybrid Mask
I got the respcare hybrid mask just 2 days back. the problem i am facing is, the nostril pillows will tend to leak at higher pressure (18-20) even though it was fitted properly beforehand.. anybody got some tips in this aspect?

Re: Hybrid Mask
I tried the hybrid mask in the past, and could never get a good seal. I run high pressure (20 - 15), and I gave up on the mask after trying every combination I could think of with the mask.
