Airfit P10 headgear tips

Post by fissik » Fri Jan 22, 2016 1:39 pm

Hello,

On my doctors recommendation, I decided to try out the Airfit P10 with the thought that the strong exhaust (for lack of a better word) from the FX nasal pillows might be disturbing my sleep and causing a slight elevation on the AHI. Doc thinks an AHI value of 2-3 is in the noise. However, I yearn for lower values.

In general, I was very happy with the Airfit P10 with the one exception that the headgear straps seem to stretch out within a fairly short period of time for me. The straps have now loosened to the point of starting to be a contributing factor toward leaks. Would anyone have any useful tips or suggestions for dealing with this issue? Other than the non-adjustable strap, I'm extremely happy with the mask, but it might be a deal-breaker at least for myself.

Thanks, all.

Wash the strap in hot water.

I'm curious to know what a "fairly short period of time" actually is. I like the AirFit P10 a lot, but because it's so light I have worried about the headgear stretching. I've used mine for a month, and it still seems fine. Replacement headgear is at least $25 anywhere I've looked, so I sure hope it lasts a while.

I've been using mine for a year and a half, my bedmate is a couple months past that.

my leak levels are still quite low, so I have no reason to change.

I have 2 headgears for my P10. I have had them for a couple of years. I switch them out and wash them on the switch. Mine have never stretched out. Not sure how long they will last but I'm glad they are lasting! I have had the same good luck (I guess it is) with the P10 pillows.

It looks like I should be in good shape for a while. I have one spare headgear, and I got a deal on P10 pillows (5 for $25). Good to know.

I took a nap yesterday using my cpap machine which I never do during day. Put my head gear on then I realized it was too light out so I put on my Velcro adjusted sleep shade mask, wow it held the head gear in place.
Last nite I purposely used my sleep shade mask and my leaks dropped quite a bit...give it a try!

Hubby poked new holes further up the strap and inserted the plastic bits there. By doing this he made the neoprene part last a year. I don't personally recommend that... Which is why I just ordered him a new headgear strap from Amazon for $30.

Where did you get P10 pillows 5 for $25? Inquiring minds want to know.

How do you tighten the straps?

Mine says SLEEP LAB MASK. NOT FOR RESALE. However, it looks about the same as pictured.

I just wash mine in hot water and it tightens back up. Mine is going on 6 months and I don't see it being a problem soon. But there seems to be a couple of other good suggestions on what others have done.

Two sets of headgear here, wash them once a week and alternate. Hottest possible water and a little liquid soap.
