variable breathing percentage, stage 3-4 sleep

Post by SleepyHibiscus » Wed Aug 23, 2006 10:31 pm

Day 12 on apap. My variable breathing percentages are usually very low 2% - 11% per night. I had one good night recently, my recorded AHI was 0.5 and my variable breathing was N/A (none). Coincidence? Maybe no variable breathing means I had steady breathing all night.

Recently on 2 back-to-back sleep studies I had almost non existant stage 3-4 sleep. On the first night (no cpap) I experienced a total of 4 minutes (1.8% of the night) in stage 3-4 sleep; and 79% of night in stage 2. On second study while titrated I had NO 3-4 sleep at all... I had a pattern of stage 1, 2, 1, REM, or 1,2,1,2,1 wake, or 1, 2, REM, wake... and 89% of night was in stage 2. Stage 2 is not restful sleep. I experience very little REM and none to almost non-existent stage 3-4 sleep, (that lovely restful, restorative sleep that we all long for).

Still sleepy but trying. Tell me I'm not alone. Peace to all.
