Snoring

Post by Aunkster » Tue Dec 29, 2015 10:07 am

So I've been wearing cpap about 2 years now and my mask is the air fit p-10 . I really like it but the past few months my wife says that when on my back I've been snoring , I've lost weight but I know that has nothing to do with it ..
When I roll over in my side my wife says no snoring at all..
Just when I'm on my back ..
Any suggestions ?
Do I need to switch to full face mask ?

Don't sleep on your back and consider raising your min. pressure by 1-2 cms. Some people wear backpks to bed to avoid back sleeping, or use some kind of foam wedge in behind them, sew tennis balls to their jammies, whatever works!

as long as your mouth is closed, a ffm would likely just make it worse. more pressure is the common remedy for snoring.

Some people have reported they needed a higher CPAP pressure after losing weight. Some have reported a lower pressure was needed.

You could go to the User Control Panel, fill out your Equipment Profile, and continue this discussion including a discussion of what data is available from your machine.

This is a guess that might work.

Wow. If a person is going to go to the trouble to use CPAP, then they should have it configured to be able to sleep in any position they want to and avoid these torturous ideas.

I agree with all the others had to say.

Stay off your back.
If you have a data-capable machine, use some software and see what's going on during the night.
If you DON'T have a data-capable machine.......get one. You need to see how your therapy is working.
If you're not doing so, try nasal cleansing before bedtime......you need to be able to breathe through your nose if you're using a nasal mask.
Figure out what level of humidity you need. If you have it cranked up, you may need to turn it down. Too much warm heated humidity can cause nasal congestion and more mouth-breathing.......and more snoring.
On the other hand, a full face mask will allow you to mouth-breathe (when necessary) without compromising your therapy.
