As several of you know, over the past few weeks I've had a tough time adapting to CPAP. But I am adapting. I've followed the suggestions and advice of several members of this board which have helped me immensely. Last night for the first time I decided to give the Airfit P10 pillows a chance. Previously I told myself I couldn't sleep with something in my nostrils. Last night I told myself that it's a part of me, and a part of me that's healing me and breathing life into me.
I accidentally fell asleep for an hour with the P10 when I was testing my new buckwheat pillow. I laid down to try it out and turned on the machine, with all the lights on, my dogs in the living room and the doggie door open. An hour later I woke up not really sure what had happened! So that told me that I CAN sleep with nasal pillows. I checked my AHI on the machine and it was 4.5 from my nap.
I got up, took a shower, got ready for bed and got back in bed at 10. I think I fell asleep right away. I woke up twice in the night but slept most of the night. I clocked 9.5 hours with the mask, and was awake for maybe 45 minutes of that during the night after using the restroom, etc.
My question is, I feel this odd feeling in my nasal cavity. I've been feeling it for awhile now. Kind of also in my forehead. It must be from breathing in pressurized air. Is this normal? Also, I feel extremely tired today. Not tired like I used to feel where I felt like a bus hit me and I was going to die. More like, I could still sleep more. I feel fine, but not super energized.
I had two nights of insomnia this week where I was fighting with the mask and did not sleep at all. So I certainly have not caught up from that sleep loss yet. Do we ever "catch up"? Last night I let go, found peace and slept so well.
Will be pressure feeling in my nasal cavity go away? My AHI for the night was 3 when I checked the machine this morning. I looked at my Waveform report and everything looked pretty good, especially compared to how things have been going before. This is my lowest AHI yet.
My pressure settings are 7cm to 10cm.

It appears that you have found you Mask and Pillow
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

So happy for you that you are starting to sleep. Yes, you will catch up, but don't be surprised if you bounce a little between less and more sleep for a while. I did. You can ignore unusual feelings if they are not too uncomfortable for now. You are adapting, and you are pushing a little pressurized air into your sinuses. Temperature and humidity adjustments can help with some of these issues. Be sure to take care of your nose. If you get any chapping, using a little Lansinoh in the morning to heal your nose.
