Airfit 10 Full Mask (L) - not large enough

Post by Boppa Makes Noises » Tue Dec 22, 2015 2:22 pm

New to CPAP (day one Dec 10) .. but making progress because I am committed to overcome any CPAP resistance on my way to a better-rested way of life. I find that the Large Airfit 10 full mask is not quite wide enough at the bottom. A simple movement of my lips, as if smiling, will break the seal. My snodz doesn't allow for the mask to stay lower on my face even if it starts out that way. I wake up to air sneaking out across my face.... it seems to fit better when I first go to sleep but it's almost as if my face changes shape during the night. Start out on my back but end up in a comfortable side position.

BTW, I wish my respiratory therapist had described 'rain out'. Never mentioned it. Lucky to research and find that my machine accepts a heated hose.. THAT got me over a hurdle much larger than mask leak. I'd rather it leak air than collect a puddle.

I have been using a M Quattro for 7 years. When I saw the new AirFit F10 I thought I would try it. The M was too small and I needed a L. I liked my original Quattro better than the F10. What I am saying is that the Quattro runs bigger than the F10. Also...FYI...Your face shrinks during the night when all your facial muscles relax. That's why the mask feels larger in the AM....(By the way...What kind of noises do you make?)

My husband was able to stablize and prevent leaks on his F10 with a PadaCheek liner. http://padacheek.com/

Thanks so much for your response. What noises do I make? Have time for a little story? My then 3-year old grandson (who calls me Boppa) was involved in the life lessons of gender identification on the 3-year old scale, somehow his learning became 'boys are handsome and girls are pretty'. One day, I was quizzing him. Is Mommy a girl or a boy? He replies, Mommy is a girl. "Mommy is pretty." Daddy? "Daddy's handsome!" And Grandma? He thinks for a minute. "Grandma is pretty!".. Well, what about Boppa? He ponders for a few long seconds and then responds, "Boppa makes noises.".... I'm POSITIVE he was surely talking about snoring... That's my story. Sticking to it.

I hate to tell you but the F10 cushion and the Quattro cushion are identical. I have both of them. The difference is in the frame and headgear.

The Quattro FX, Mirage Quattro, and Quattro Air are different masks. It is the Quattro Air that have the same cushions as the F10.
