Falling asleep every morning after mask off
Re: Falling asleep every morning after mask off
I'm sorry to hear you are in this position. It doesn't mean things will always be as they are now. If your sleep is not optimized there's still hope that proper sleep could change your medication needs. An AHI of 5-9 sounds like there may still be room for improvement. Can you post copies of your sleep study reports (minus personal identifying info)? Maybe there's a clue in there someone could pick up on, also in your nightly data. Unless you do something different, nothing is going to change. I encourage you to continue to pursue the very best CPAP can offer. And also, figure out if limb movements are a problem or not. Could make a big difference. Your future is not without hope, but there's a limit to the help anyone here can offer without more input from you. Hang in there.

Thanks Den, I was going to say the same thing so I am glad you did.Wulfman... wrote:For what it's worth, Sleep Apnea has been know to cause depression. Many XPAP users had been treated for depression until someone finally put 2 and 2 together and sent them for a sleep study........BINGO........Sleep Apnea. Once they got on XPAP therapy and got their therapy optimized, it went away. The stories are here in the forum archives.thumperbill2 wrote:Thanks for all of your thoughts on my situation. Unfortunately I can't change the meds. It took me a few years to find this combination of antidepressants that rescued me from a serious burnout with anxiety attacks and clinical depression. I can't try experimenting with new ones again in the hope that they will work as well as these plus help make sleep better. The tardive dyskinesia is the type that causes freezing of a person without them being aware of it. This happened several times and the dose of kepra stopped it. I will be on it for life.
So I guess I will just have to suck it up and carry on the best I can.
Thanks for your advice. This is a great forum.
Just sayin'.......

Changing meds or dosage may not be an option at this time but there's still the opportunity to maybe improve on the sleep apnea therapy with that AHI being a little bit higher than we would like to see.
Do use the software and figure out what kind of events you are having and let's see if there is something we can do to improve at least that area.

You still need to get those meds checked out. Proper sleep changes the way the meds affect you. A simple example is caffeine, two cups now have me wired for the day while pre cpap 6 was common.thumperbill2 wrote:Thanks for all of your thoughts on my situation. If I feel like an extra snooze in the morning, I put the mask back on.
Otherwise I feel weird.
Maybe I'm "addicted"--but it feels more like a GOOD HABIT.

I am new to this and have found myself doing that too. I just thought that it was a habit from when i didn't have a cpap and would wake up hit snooze and go back to "sleep". Now I wonder.

Re: Falling asleep every morning after mask off
I have OSA+CSA. I have the same issue I keep falling asleep without the mask and my sleep meds and it is really damaging me, sometimes I wake up really damaged. I think I tried sonata but it didn't seem to do much, might have helped a bit.
