aromatic oils
aromatic oils
I have gotten some essential oils as presents. Can I use them like I use the aromatic kind? They are peppermint. Eucalyptus and Lavender. I use the clear from cpap and I really like it but I have these now. Anyone got any answers?????

Re: aromatic oils
Just put a drop on some cotton in a little bowl in front of the air intake. Then put on the cpap and mask and check if it isn't too strong before actually laying down.
If it is too strong, get some almond oil or very good olive oil and use that to create a diluted version in a separate container.

I love my essential oils....a drop each of your peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus can open the sinuses and fight allergies, to mention a few uses. Enjoy.

Re: aromatic oils
Pur-Sleep has a line of aromatic oils and includes a little dispenser/diffuser:

Don't put any fragrances into your tank water... put them outside the intake port on a wick or such.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: aromatic oils
I just noticed some essential oils in the local Wally World drug department.
I have been using a Yankee Candle car air freshener in citrus and sage right next to the intake.
Avoid no name stuff. Some of the fragrances are chemical based, and will irritate the nasal passages.

Re: aromatic oils
People selling eo would probably say not to use peppermint, because it is energizing. I love peppermint for my sinuses though! Their recommendation to me was lavender and sweet orange. I truly don't think I would have made it this far, since getting my cpap on Dec.2nd if I hadn't used my oils. It's so nice to smell something pleasant instead of rubber/plastic tube smells.

Peppermint can indeed be energizing, particularly if one uses too much. For me, one drop is sufficient to open my sinuses. Ditto for the lavender which also can cause me to be awake all night. Also, I have to put the diffuser pad a small distance from the filter/intake. I'm learning as I go and I love my oils.
