Amara View?

Post by maninthemask » Sun Dec 13, 2015 8:12 pm

I have been using an respironics amara mask for about a year. I'm coming due for some supplies, has anyone had any luck with the amara view? The amara has worked just fine so far, just curious about the new stuff.

Thanks in advance!

I should have scrolled down a little before I made a post.

I would still welcome some opinions.

My wife and I have both started using the amara view last week. We both love it.
We were both using a nasal pillow mask ... she the swift fx ... and me the Pilaro Q .
and we both had fluttering lips, all night ... Not any more
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

I have been reading alot of posts on here about it. Kind of seems to be a " feast or famine " situation. I think I'm going to give it a try. I can always go back to my amara if I don't like it.

Make sure you get the right size ... the sizing guide showed that I should use a large ... but I am using a medium now and it is much better.

I was the reverse, gave me a Medium and I found it constricted my mouth and covered 50% of my nostrils.

Switched to a Large and very pleased.

You can't trust just the sizing guide as I was on line between Med and Lg.

I think it is the same for adjusting as any FFM. Takes a couple tries to get down what to and not to tighten, but once you get it set you may find yourself putting you hand to your face to see if you really have it on. I do that several times a week.
Sleeping MUCH better now

Last night was my first night with the mask. I was very impressed. I am a side sleeper and it had very little effect on the mask. I went with a large. I wear a medium in the amara, but god has granted me with a big sniffer and the medium pressed on the end of my nose a little too much.

So far so good. I will update more in a few days.

I see alot of people on here apparently download their disks on their own. I have always taken mine into my dme. What kind of software is out there to do this at home?

With the ResMed machines you can use 2 software products...SleepyHead or ResScan or both if you wish.
You can read about them starting here and just follow the links.
https://sleep.tnet.com/equipment

Your DME will be using ResScan as that is the official ResMed software.
