AirFit P10 Durability

Post by nikroft » Sun Dec 13, 2015 7:24 pm

I'm about 6 weeks into my cpap treatment. It seems like this Airfir P10 mask is already worn out. I have seen a uptick in large leaks the last few weeks last night large leaks were 10.67%. I took it apart today and gave everything a thorough cleaning. I also got a new nasal pillow in the last week. Any ideas should I be looking at a different mask?

I've been using mine for five months now without any problems. Does it feel looser? Are you still getting a good seal?

The standard advice is to remove the strap from the mask (there are videos on their website if it's not clear how to do that) and wash it in hot water. This causes it to shrink and tighten up again. Let the strap dry completely before using it again.

I bought some extra straps on ebay so I would have spares.

Any chance the head strap has stretched?
You might want to try washing the head strap in warm water to help shrink it back to original size.

I generally get 6-8 months out of mine; any longer and ai start to get leaks even if I try to shrink the strap.

Maybe the problem is actually your bed pillow. If your head is sinking too deeply into it, you can have lots of leak problems because it pushes your mask out of alignment. There are many types of bed pillows that have been designed for or work better with this therapy than the standard fiberfill pillows.

I have used mine for over a year with one pillow change. The headgear is becoming looser but I have none to minimal leaks, so I think I may have a few more months. I have a replacement but just want to see how long this will maintain therapy without leaks.
I do sometimes push it to the side with my pillow and have to reposition it.

And/or.......maybe this is your problem.

Additional Comments: Pressure 4-12

Maybe your mask adjustment isn't allowing for higher pressures if they're getting near the max.
You need to look at your actual software downloaded reports and see what's going on.
If you're not using Sleepyhead, you need to.

The leak rate seems to not coincide with pressure. I am seeing some leaks in the 4-5 range and more in the 7-9 range. that is where I sleep most of the night. IN playing with the mask last night I found if the hose inst coming straight out when the mask is on the leaks are very noticeable. My first set of pillows started to deteriorate at week 5 the material was starting to come apart and would not hold its form at the nostril on the pillow.
