Shirtless sleeves

Post by So Sincere » Sat Dec 12, 2015 11:48 am

I thought I'd pass on this tip. You've heard of a sleeveless shirt, right? Well, I invented shirtless sleeves. Like a lot of people here, the exhaust from my mask inevitably blows on my arms, directly and by bouncing off bedding. So just sleep with a long-sleeve shirt on, right? Unfortunately, I have slept shirtless my entire adult life. I even tried recently, but the hair follicles on my chest and back were so irritated by the fabric brushing against them, by morning it felt like my skin was burned. And I'm not a super-hairy guy. Then I thought of a solution...

I bought an inexpensive long-sleeve T-shirt at Target and cut it across the torso a centimeter below the sleeves. I also cut out about half more of the back because my back hair goes up that high. Front wasn't a problem. And it works great! Looks funny--my wife just shakes her head--but it works. I don't feel the mask exhaust at all now. The long sleeves are even kind of comforting, which was a surprise. They might be a problem in the summer, but I usually sleep with a fan on, so that should keep me cool.

My apologies if this is obvious, and everyone already knows how do do it. Also, I'm not sure how this applies to women.

I use a cut piece of a resmed inlet filter and attache it LOOSELY over the vent area of the mask ... this defuses the stream of air .
there are several masks that come with something like that ... the Pilaro Q is one of them

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Oh, so the piece of filter juts out a bit, the exhaust hits it and is diffused? At first, I thought you meant that you covered the exhaust outlet with the filter material.

If you knew "Larry the Cable Guy", you wouldn't have to waste your money. (you could just use the sleeves he cuts off of his shirts)

I don't have that problem, I pull the hose and put my arms under my covers. Nothing blowing on my arms and they and my hose stay warm under the covers.

A few years ago I used to use a dishtowel that I kept near the bed; I'd just drape it over my bare arm. Lately, the air blowing on my arms hasn't bothered me at all... I guess I just got used to it over time. I like your cut-off-sleeve solution tho.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

That was a creative way to problem solve. I enjoy reading how others find ways to address their problems.
