Blood Pressure

Post by hpm08161947 » Fri Nov 20, 2015 4:15 pm

For the last eight months I have been a successful CPAP user. Before CPAP my AHI was 64, with CPAP it is usually 1 or less. A year ago my Blood presssure was typically 140/90 today it was 117/71 - the Dr seem quite surprised given my past history. Is it likely that I can credit that to CPAP therapy. I can think of no other major change in my life.

Yes... successful cpap therapy has changed a lot of health conditions to the better. My blood sugar has dropped (below 100), my blood pressure has dropped like yours and I also have lost a lot of weight. I attribute it all the using the cpap. I remember reading how some folks have had their acid reflux condition worsen... though. That's happening to me. Oh well. I've always said that cpap therapy may allow me to live another decade or so. Sleep apnea may not kill you, but it will aggravate or cause a condition that will. The best part is feeling like a human being again.

You betcha!

Sleep Apnea puts stress on a person's system and that can lead to a whole lot of medical issues. Controlling the Sleep Apnea helps bring things back closer to "normal". Lots of people who think they can ignore therapy have higher incidences of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and other medical problems.

I found out about my apnea because my normally low BP spiked and wouldn't come down. It didn't respond well to medication either. Since I was also complaining about being so tired, they ordered a sleep study. My pressure is already dropping and I'm med free!

My cardiologist told me about a patient with unstable BP. With successful cpap therapy, her BP was stabilized.

I too noticed a significant decrease in bp after 2 months of continuous cpap use.
