I didn't know we could use different types of vinegar Will go experiment with what kind of salad I want to smell like.

Playing with the temperature in my room seemed to help too. (As in a hotter room is better)

OK, update on the salad dressing for CPAP - hate the way apple cider vinegar smells, it's white vinegar for me from now on!

Sinus infection update...

Post by Dgrendahl » Fri Mar 21, 2008 4:15 pm

Around Feb 15th I awoke one morning with the worst plugged nose I had every had in my life. From their on out, things got worse. I was having constant headaches & nausea, pulsating noises in my head and my blood pressure rose. I finally got in to see my doctor and he said just congestion and told me to use a nasal spray & Simply Saline and take Chlortrimatine Tabs. Well, it helped somewhat but not enough. He then switched me to Benadryl Tabs and that was even better. Then, I had to see a dental surgeon for some work and he placed me on antibiotics. Don't you know that has almost cleared it up totally in two days time! I saw my doctor the day after seeing the dental surgeon and I suggested to him that it just could be an infection. He has me scheduled next week to have a CAT Scan to check those sinus cavities to determine if they are indeed infected. So what would I do if I were in your shoes right now and couldn't get to the doctor? I would take the Benadryl 3-4 times during the day and use Simply Saline often. Oh, the doctor told me to take one tab around 5 p.m. and then another when going to bed and said this will help you sleep AND clear up those sinuses. Now, you know as much as me...or is it "I"?

Isn't it something how individual our physical reactions to treatment can be? I find I have nasal/sinus problems when I don't have sufficient humidification. I get headaches and sinus pain when the humidifier is off or on low.

About the Benadryl .... I've heard it works for lots of people but I have the opposite effect - it keeps me awake all night! One of my docs told me that it's a known reaction for a minority of people

The vinegar smell should dissipate as it dries. Most of it anyway.

I suffered from Migraines precipitated by allergies for years. I went through immunotherapy which did a huge amount of good, however I am extremely sensitive to mold. I start to get sinus headaches when my humidifier is beginning to get dirty. I wash the tank with hot soapy water and that solves the problem. Changing the filter regularly is an absolute as well.
