Another Dreamwear question
Okay, since the last Dreamwear post is at 11 pages long please forgive me for starting a new one. After I got the Dreamwear (medium frame, small pillow) I wore it with my ASV for 5 straight nights. The first couple nights seemed okay - I just had to get used to the fake "leak" feeling on my nose that many of us experience from what I've read. The night before last I kept noticing what seemed like air blowing into my eyes. When I put my hand between my mask and eyes the air in my eyes stopped, so it was definitely there. I'm thinking maybe it was from the air being vented? I don't remember it the first couple nights, but maybe because I was focused more on the other issue I just didn't notice. I also noticed that I was having trouble getting a good seal, especially while laying on my side. I would roll over and the mask would shift and start leaking from the side of my nose.
Last night, I must have been having some events as I was falling asleep. When I first started using my ASV I would notice the stronger bursts while falling asleep, which would wake me up. Eventually I got used to them and didn't notice anymore. This was when I was using my AirFit p10 nasal pillows. However, with the Dreamwear it seems that the strong bursts from the ASV are too much for the mask and it was definitely breaking the seal and leaking because of the force. Has anyone else experienced this? Last night after about the 4th burst causing the leak and waking me up, I went back to the AirFit p10 and went to sleep without any issues.

Re: Another Dreamwear question
I don't have any experience with ASV, but it seems possible that maybe you have the mask adjusted too loose for the higher pressure "bursts." Maybe try tightening it a little bit?
How close do the side tubes come to your ears? If they are touching your ears, or otherwise very close to them, you may need the small frame size. That could also cause the mask to be "angled up" more, which might explain why you felt air blowing on your face from the front vent. Maybe try the medium size nasal cushion as an experiment as well.

Re: Another Dreamwear question
I am using S9 Adapt which is ASV and I have some pretty strong bursts of pressure and I haven't seemed to have had any issues with leaks from the pressure changes. Any big leaks I get are when the back strap slides up to far on the back of the head causing loss of tension and movement of the cradle cushion.
Doesn't happen often but I had it happen this morning. Can't check the leak graph though...it's a S9 and some dummy left the SD card sitting on the computer all night so I don't have any leak graphs to look at.
If it is blowing/venting into the eyes the there is something wrong somewhere with the fitting..it shouldn't be angled in such a manner as to hit the eyes at all.

Re: Another Dreamwear question
I don't have ASV so I can't comment on that. I did find that I could get away with the medium frame when I first got it by using the pads but I got the small frame and it fits much better. That may be one solution.
The odd thing I've noticed is that I sometimes feel like I do have a bit of air blowing in my eye but I can't feel it when I put my hand anywhere that could be causing it (I do keep a window open, heat vent is above the bed and often have a fan on so I don't know how much air circulating in the room may be a factor). But when I look at my leak graphs, I have the lowest leak rate of any mask I've used - usually averaging at 0 with a high around 3.

Re: Another Dreamwear question
Yes, the strong bursts are fine when I'm wearing the AirFit p10, but the Dreamwear didn't like it at all. I thought the medium frame was fitting okay, but I'll have to really pay attention to where the side tubes are falling. It's possible I might need to use a smaller frame or maybe I do have it too loose. Maybe I'll try it with the cheek pads tonight to see if that helps with the fit.Pugsy wrote:I am using S9 Adapt which is ASV and I have some pretty strong bursts of pressure and I haven't seemed to have had any issues with leaks from the pressure changes. Re: Another Dreamwear question
So, I used the Dreamwear with the pads and I was surprised how much better it fit! The mask had a really good seal. However, the problem I still have is when I roll over. The mask shifts slightly and I get leaks when I try to roll onto my side. I fiddled with it for a while last night and eventually just rolled onto my back again. I really like the headgear on the dreamwear. Part of me wishes they had a nasal pillow that could be switched out because I think that would stop the mask from shifting. I've never had any issues with the AirFit P10 nasal pillows leaking when I roll over.

Are you using SleepyHead to monitor your therapy? I've had the sensation that I got leaks when rolling on my side but found that they aren't showing up in SleepyHead. For me, the sensation of a leak is no more troubling than the sensation I've gotten with any other mask and the actual leak rate is the lowest I've experienced.Ladyflower wrote:So, I used the Dreamwear with the pads and I was surprised how much better it fit! Re: Another Dreamwear question
I had asked this question on another string but no one responded so I will ask here...do you experience a lot of whooshing and noise when you're on your side? My Dream Mapper app (I can't get Sleepyhead to work with my Dreamstation) says 100% fit regardless, and the noise of me breathing in and out keeps me awake. Is it just me? Is this normal? I want this mask to work because it's so unobtrusive and I love the design. But the noise is keeping me awake. Did this happen to anyone else at the beginning? I barely slept at all last night and feel really bad today.
Re: Another Dreamwear question
Others have posted that they had trouble with noise from this mask. Personally, I haven't had a problem with it. I am sensitive to noise but not with this. I think some have said that they did adjust to it if it bothered them.cmmarti3 wrote:I had asked this question on another string but no one responded so I will ask here...do you experience a lot of whooshing and noise when you're on your side? Re: Another Dreamwear question
The noise-- yes, I heard the noise too. It was so loud I had to send it back. That, and other reasons. Did not fit comfortable, no short hose, would dislodge from my nose when I slept on my side, -- headband would not stay in place. I even tried the medium and small frame. Both went had to be returned.

Re: Another Dreamwear question
I'm a side sleeper, and I've only noticed the whooshing sound once - when my head was turned a bit so that the "down" side of the frame was only partially pinched under my head. Reduced airflow but not completely blocked = noise for me.
I think it just goes to show that not every mask works for everyone. One person's perfect mask is another person's noisy sleep-disturber.
