Excruciating gas pains

Post by kaykin75 » Mon Nov 09, 2015 4:52 pm

Hi everyone! Lately I have been experiencing terrible gas pains the next morning after using my cpap machine, even with low AHI. The last straw was when it lasted 2 hours and I couldn't even stand up straight....work that morning was awful! Finally after 3 different anti gas treatments, it subsided. Sadly I haven't worn my mask since out of fear. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!!

I have the same issue. The only thing that I've been able to do is lower the minimum pressure. Any time my pressure is over 15 I wake up in horrible pain

I'm using a ranged vpap with the pressure set at 14 epap preassure support of 6 and the ipap max at 21

What are your pressure settings?
Are you using EPR? If so, at what setting?

You do have some options depending on your current settings and therapy.

No EPR. Settings are 10-15, adjusting automatically during the night. I will look at the link you provided. Thanks

Consider using EPR as often the reduction that EPR offers upon exhale is enough to greatly reduce the aerophagia symptoms.
It's 1 cm per setting...so the EPR setting of 1 is 1 cm reduction...setting of 3 is a 3 cm reduction...during exhale.
Evaluation of the software reports needs to be done to make sure the reduction doesn't cause an increase in AHI.
