Does machine ever turn off automatically?

Post by catyliz » Wed Nov 04, 2015 9:04 pm

I occasionally wake up with the mask off my face and the machine is not on. I have no memory of taking the mask off or turning off the machine, Does it shut off automatically after a certain time if it senses that the mask is not being worn?

I can only speak for the machine that I use but there is a setting that can be initiated whereby the machine will respond and activate to your breathing. When you begin to breathe in the mask the machine will activate. When you take the mask off it will shut down.

Some have a setting for that. Some think you died, and don't want to raise the electric bills for your heirs.

It would be foolish to set the machine to shut off on purpose. Jim

Some machines have an auto on/auto off setting. We don't know what machine you have but if it is a ResMed you could have that setting set to on. When the mask comes off, the machine shuts off. You will get more help if you register on the forum and fill in your equipment.

Some machines have an "auto off" feature that will turn it off if the mask is removed or if there is a large leak for a certain period of time.
I would strongly advise checking through your machine's settings and if that feature is turned on.......turn it off.
I've always made sure that none of mine will turn off unless I press the on/off button. If I have a large leak, I want it to keep blowing therapy air. And, if I'm going to get up to leave the bed, I always want to manually turn it off myself.
