I have been on cpap/bipap for a year now and it's working well
However, at least half of my mornings are terrible. I wake with a heavy, tight
feeling on my chest. I am not anxious about anything but it feels like anxiety. It makes me feel miserable and it's hard to engage or focus on anything. Nothing much helps except keeping my body moving, which doesn't happen once I get to work and sit all day. Regardless of any other factors, the feeling usually fades away by noon and then I am fine.
I do have a history of depression and take Celexa for that which works well but I still have this feeling and I hate it.
I am beginning to wonder if the morning chest ache is connected to sleep apnea, although my machine says my AHI is now very low.
But, could it still be related somehow to my sleep patterns? It is much worse on days that I have to wake up before 8 am. If I sleep later, even if I have to go to work, it's not so bad.
I don't notice any difference in nights when I have sleep well versus nights I wake up several times.
I have had a full cardiac workout and they found nothing wrong

Could you please verify which machine you actually have?hopeforsleep wrote:I have been on cpap/bipap for a year now and it's working well

The one in your profile is not data-capable, but you mention your AHI. The machine in your profile only records hours used.
Machine: S9 Escape™ CPAP Machine with EPR™
And, if that's not the machine, could you update your profile and add your settings, too.
If the actual machine you're using is a data-capable one (Autoset or Elite), you could use Sleepyhead software to monitor your therapy.

Re: Terrible morning anxiru
I strongly suggest you see a doctor asap... serious cardiac events often manifest first thing in the a.m. and you don't want to take chances. The feelings you're having could be anxiety, could be Cpap related, could be GERD, but what if they're not - tightness and heaviness are in fact real symptoms of potential cardiac problems. Get checked out then speculate on those other things after you're cleared.

You might look at the side effects for the Celexa.
This part caught my attention.

I'm now using data- capable machine ResMed VPAP auto.
I neglected to mention that I have had these symptoms ever since I can remember (at least age 10) so I know hat it is not a side effect of any medication.
I have had a complete cardiac workup and cardiologist said my heart is fine.
Just wondering if anyone thought it might me apnea related.

By the same reasoning then I would doubt those symptoms are apnea related unless you happen to think you have had apnea since age 10.hopeforsleep wrote:that I have had these symptoms ever since I can remember (at least age 10) so I know hat it is not a side effect of any medication.
