More on flow limitations

Post by Sleepysuz » Wed Oct 21, 2015 9:12 pm

Haven't checked my numbers in ages and am rusty with using Sleepyhead. I only have a few graphs on the right side of the daily reading. Nothing that says flow limit. Am using a system one. Am I not doing something right

My numbers are all great but flow limitations. Average 22 a night and range is 2.6-3.3. Have my APAP on 9.5-10.5 ( enough to limit events but low enough to control aerophagia

Do I need to do something to see more info on Sleepyhead to share with the experts here? Thanks so Much!

Respironics machines don't produce a flow limitation graph like the ResMed mahines,
Instead FLs are flagged as a single event on the events graph.

Thanks Pugsy! Any thoughts on my numbers? My pie chart is almost all black

The pie chart is a whole pie and if you only had 1 event (of any kind) then it would be all that color so that really doesn't mean a whole lot other than the bulk of your events are FLs and we already know that.
The pie chart isn't a good gauge of anything. I turned mine off for this reason. It's not a particularly useful tool.

I would need to see a typical report to comment further in much detail or decide if the FLs are in urgent need of reduction. You are already using a tight range in pressures because of the aerophagia issues and the usual fix for FLs is a little more minimum pressure which may make the aerophagia worse.
I would particularly like to see the events graph with the FLs to see if there is any clustering which might mean REM sleep or supine sleeping vs no clustering.

In your situation we would have to think long and hard on just how much of an issue the Fls might or might not be when compared to the issue of the aerophagia. Which evil is the worst evil?
Your range is already so tiny that there just isn't much room to go FL killing with more minimum pressure.
Sometimes we have to make compromises...kill those FLs or suffer with bad aerophagia and the aerophagia is probably the worst of the evils if you have it pretty bad or accept maybe a few more FLs than we would really want to see and not have the aerophagia issues..
