xPAP Carry-On Case

Should we get something that's moulded around our CPAP machine, to fit its shape? Did yours come in its own separate compartment, or was the case just a shell around a CPAP shaped foam hole?

What did you do about the things like hose, mask, etc, did you have a separate, unmolded compartment for that?

Would it work to get something that could double as a carry-on, so that I could put some additional hand lugguage in there (books, sweater etc), and hold the whole CPAP set up. That way I can check it in safely if it's taken away from me at the gate but still only have 1 item to carry on, if they let me bring it with me.
Please open this link and see the Carry-On case I'm talking about:

Now picture a cut-out in the foam that exactly fits the dimensions of your xPAP and humidifier.

Also picture another cut-out in the foam for your mask, hose, etc.

There isn't room for anything else in order to provide maximum safety for the xPAP, and stay within the airlines requirements for the size of carry-on luggage. I hope this helps.

It may be easy to make a new spiffy case look like a wreck, people do it with new outboard engines all the time for travel to ports further south.
maybe some grotty grey paint and Red Green special tape; maybe mould some dinges in it with some sort of putty or whatever you can think of. Any ideas anyone? I like to travel to places where spiffy stuff would be way too much temptation.

Hard case

I just use the standard Respironics case and pack it into a small Samsonite roll around that was originally used to carry a laptop and 1 change of clothes. Provides great protection, still fits in the overhead, and has a couple of pockets on the front for books etc.

z754103 Yes, I have checked it in this way and have carried it on board as well. No one has looked twice. If i were buying, I would get something made for the job. I actually started this when I had one too many bags on a return trip. It worked so well that now I just pack this way.

It's not the only way, just an option.
