Resmed S9 or Airsense for her?
I'm debating between two resmed machines. I want to know from previous users if one is quieter than the other? The air sense is newer technology but the specs shows a higher decibel range. Is that even right?
Also I'm thinking of selling my Remstar autopap. Has very little usage maybe about a little over two months. What kind of price would be reasonable to sell it at?

EDIT: I see that you are concerned about noise in previous posts. I honestly don't see how a couple of decibel improvement is going to be worth the cost of several hundred dollars. But that's just me.
EDIT2: However, if you are going to spend the money, you might as well get the latest and greatest - the Airsense 10 for her.

According to the links in CPAP.COM, the S9 and the Airsense 10 show ALMOST exactly the same sound level:lindalam89 wrote:I'm debating between two resmed machines. Do you really think you can tell the difference of .6 dBA?

Re: Resmed S9 or Airsense for her?
I'm pretty much at wits end... I hear a lot of people talking about being knocked out on ambien... I can take a bunch of sedating drugs and never get knocked out. But I will get irregular heart rate, night sweats, and nerve pain and migraines from not sleeping. I guess the fatigue is making me grasp on any straws I can get.
I sound crazy to myself too. I can barely get by on my extremely low income, and here I am wanting to buy a machine that will set me back a good few months. I don't even know if I will sleep on it. But at this point, I don't know until I try.
Den: I was confused with the decibel ratings because some places advertised the S9 with a 24 decibel rating...
I'd rather hear from users if they feel the newer machine is indeed quieter despite the .6 decibel increase.

Linda,
I posted in your other thread about the AirSense 10 FOR HER.
I think the AIRSENSE 10 For her is still to new to get long term data.

I've had both machines and found them silent. If they aren't silent, it's because something is broken or worn. Your mask will make more noise than the machine.
Both machines will TREAT RERA's, but only the Airsense for Her will track them. I like both machines. The only other thing is that parts for the S9 will only be available for 7 years because production has stopped. Not a problem if you are in a position to replace your machine before then. I'm actually looking for a used S9 for my sister (her health insurance doesn't cover Cpap) so I'm pretty confident in the product.

Can you tell me how the Airsense For her tracks RERAs? Is there a component of Sleepyhead software in which you can see these?SewTired wrote:I've had both machines and found them silent. It's only in the special "for Her" apap mode that the RERAs get flagged.SleepCatz wrote:Can you tell me how the Airsense For her tracks RERAs? Is there a component of Sleepyhead software in which you can see these?
See the manual
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf
Sleepyhead just reports whatever the machine is reporting and RERAs in SleepyHead are part of the events graph.

Well if they stopped production for S9, I think I'll get the airsense. Thank you for being so helpful everyone!

Where did you find documentation that production of the S9 has ceased ?

My S9 has been supreme. AHI 0.0 to 0.1 each and every night. The machine is quiet.

I called ResMed TS and was told that the S9 is still manufactured and they guaranty support and parts for a minimum of five years after production has stopped. Someone please post a link to the allegation that the S9 is no longer being manufactured.
