OT The end of summer

Post by carbonman » Sun Sep 20, 2015 6:37 pm

OT The end of summer
Time for an afternoon aspen drive over Guanella Pass.
It seems a little early, but we were right on time.
The big view always bring the first ooooos and ahhhhs.
Image
A perfect cloudless sky made for incredible blues.
Image
Image
Light breeze added just what was needed to bring the quakes to life.
Image
..and that same breeze settles them gently back to the earth,
Image
from where they came.
Image
In the shadows, their journey is complete.
Image
At the summit of the pass the grand view of Mt. Bierstadt, the saw toot ridge over
to Mt. Evans, just peaking out to the left.
Image
Some of the 14'ers have already seen a skiff of the termination dust.
It's been a wonderful summer. The best time of the year begins in a few days.

Beautiful country! Jim

I vote we do away with daylight savings time, and just extend Spring and Fall by two months each.

You are right about that blue!
Sensory overload! But in a good way.
All that beauty, I can almost smell the ground beneath the cottonwoods.
It's enough to make me tipsy.

We used to go there every September and take in the beautiful scenery. Especially liked to go up the mountain behind the town of Aspen and just spend the day up there enjoying the colors . Wonderful memories!!!!!!!! Thank you for the reminder.

My wife and I lived in Loveland CO for one year before notice was given that they were closing my plant soon, and were starting to reduce headcount. We loved living there, and I regularly look for opportunities to move back out there. Sadly, the market for people with my skillset is flush so they have plenty of local less expensive talent available.
