Mask leaks
Mask leaks
I have been using a CPAP machine for about 3 weeks now. Starting air pressure is 7. Humidity set at 2. I have tried several masks. It appears that I am a mouth breather so although I really love the nasal pillows, I then have to wear a chin strap which is uncomfortable. I also have a Quattro full face mask which starts out fine at the beginning of the night BUT I always wake up with it leaking badly and I can never get it to stop. I usually end up discarding it in the middle of the night. I also have started experiencing severe gas pains during the night. I also suffer from GERD and I've read that this makes it easier for air to go into your stomach. Blah. This was supposed to fix my sleep but so far the opposite has been true. Help!

Re: Mask leaks
Even with a full face mask, leaks can develop with jaw movement during the night associated with muscle relaxation during sleep.
You might try using a soft cervical collar instead of a chin strap. It will support the jaw and, at least for me, is much more comfortable than the one time I tried a chin strap.

Re: Mask leaks
You can get a cervical collar at any pharmacy, medical supply store and of course online... amazon seems to have hundreds. They aren't expensive so I'd go to a drug store like CVS or Riteaid where you can get an idea of the different sizes before buying.Bubbles1 wrote:Where do you get such a thing?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
