Nose crease
Nose crease
Ugg! I have been using a nasal pillow for about 3 years and I have noticed a big change in the shape of my nose. I'm starting to look like Carl Maldin and that is not the look I want !!! Is anyone else dealing with this and if so, do you have any special things that you are doing to at least prevent the creases?
Re: Nose crease
I have been using a nasal pillow mask for over 6 years now and my nose hasn't changed one bit and neither have the nostrils. I am no spring chicken either so I get lines now where I don't want lines (old age wrinkles) but none anywhere near or around my nose.
Which nasal pillow mask are you using? Are you using it so that it is extremely snug and maybe pulling the end of the nose upwards/backwards?

Re: Nose crease
The nasal expansion you fear is mostly hereditary, and old age.
Cpap does NOT cause it, but if you stop using cpap, there's
a fairly good chance you won't live as long--eliminating the age thing.
My plan is to live long enough my face makes the kiddies scream in fright!

Re: Nose crease
As much as we would like to blame every negative thing going on with our bodies on the cpap or the mask...it's really not the case but if you are using the mask too tight it can sure cause repeated compression of the nose and that could cause the wrinkles.
I know one woman (mother of a friend of mine) that had her Swift FX mask so tight it almost pulled her nose into her eyeballs. I have no idea how she could sleep like that but she did it for years. She did get some wrinkles from it and once I showed her how she didn't have to have the pillows almost in her eyeballs she was a much happier camper about her therapy in general.

Re: Nose crease
Ya know, the first two responses did crack me up as I am sure part of it is heredity, however, I may be wearing the pillow to tight but If I don't, it does leak. Maybe its time to look for a better fit.......don't want my nose to end up in my eyeballs!!
