Alert for taking my mask off??

Post by rara200284 » Mon Sep 07, 2015 8:22 pm

Hi,

I keep taking my mask off every night! It's getting frustrating and I don't see progress. There have been a rare few nights I have been able to keep it on and have felt great on those days.

My Devilbiss Cpap does not have a feature that lets me know if my mask comes undone. Although the hose keeps blowing air, which I set up on purpose to wake me, I sleep through it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to make sure I become aware of when my mask comes off while sleep?

My machine doesn't have an alert feature as some may. Usually my mask is off from 1am-5am for some reason.

In that case, you're going to have to train yourself NOT to take it off.
Most of us went through that phase early in our therapy and managed to overcome it.
Wearing tube socks on the hands, taping, wearing headbands/straps or otherwise affixing the mask to your head, or whatever you can come up with. Anything to make it difficult to remove it.

If you have software reports you can review, see if there is anything in there to hint why you're removing the mask.
Pressure too low? Large leaks? Events?

I have to take my mask off a few times per night to use the restroom. After about a minute my machine starts to beep.

Hi rara,

Is your mask comfortable? The reason I am asking is I did this constantly when I wore full face masks as I found them very uncomfortable. But interestingly, when I switched to the cloth mask listed in my equipment profile, except for a few times, the practice completely stopped.

Otherwise, I agree Den about looking at software to see if anything may be causing you to prematurely remove it.

If taping it to your face does not wake you, perhaps you need to get a bit of hair under the tape.
