I recently purchased a Transcend Auto miniCPAP machine for traveling from a well-known online supplier, and I wanted to double-check the pressure setting.
I read the clinician manual, and it says that to calibrate the machine, I'm supposed to, "...attach a manometer and 4mm leak to the device using standard procedures."
I know what a manometer is, but what do they mean by a 4mm leak? Does that mean that the exit end of the hose is 4mm? Or is it more complicated?
I know I could take the device to my doctor's office and have the RT calibrate it, but I like to do things myself in some cases, and this isn't exactly brain surgery.
I think the pressure is a little low on the device, so I've bumped up the pressure a bit, but I would prefer to calibrate and double-check the settings for my altitude.
Thanks!
Manometer question (4mm leak?)

Re: Manometer question (4mm leak?)
Yes, the 4mm vent hole simulates the Mask leak rate, that the xpap has to overcome to supply the required pressure. Jim
If you were to hook your mask up to the hose, that would work too, BUT, your breathing in and out would make the manometer change with your breathing. Which it what happens in normal use.
