Why did my AirSense 10 autoset fail to log my time correctly
Why did my AirSense 10 autoset fail to log my time correctly
I've been on cpap with AirSense 10 Autoset since early June. It's been going great and I have had between 7-10 hours per night of sleep, AHI between 0 and .5 with most nights around .1. Then last night I went to bed and turned it on around 10:30 p.m., woke up with a little cough around 1:20 a.m. and turned it off for a minute to cough. The machine indicated I had been on it for 40 minutes! I was shocked since I knew it had been close to 3 hours. I then turned it back on and went back to sleep. I awoke again around 3:00 a.m. and decided to check it out. I turned it off and this time it said I had been on it for 1 hour and 40 minutes! I turned it back on and managed to get it up to 6 hours for the night, when I had actually been on it for much longer.
Was it a fluke? Has anyone else had this happen? I don't have time to take it to the rental place for a checkup today. (I'm still on my probation period before insurance pays for it outright and Lincare is responsible for it.) Any suggestions? I just hope it doesn't happen again. I haven't done anything unusual to it. I just used it the way I always have.

There's an easy solution to this problem. Quit looking at the display in the middle of the night!

Yes, that's true, but if I hadn't noticed, I guess I would have been even more confused this morning. lol

Maybe just check it every morning when you get up, and if it continues to happen, ask Lincare to swap it out before you take ownership.
I was half serious about not looking at the display in the night. It is claimed that the light can make it difficult to go back to sleep. It never bothered me, but YMMV.

OR, you can look at the data and see what the machine captures to know what it knows. The display provides little info compared to a full report.

It seems to be working fine now. I guess it was a fluke. If it happens again, I'll take it in.

Re: Why did my AirSense 10 autoset fail to log my time correctly
Have you tried using software to read your machine's SD card? Sleepyhead and Rescan software, both free, can give you detailed information on what data is being recorded. That will give you a much better picture of what the machine records than the display.
I have an A10 also. Mine resets the day at noon and i sleep really odd hours and usually past noon.
Are you registered with My Air? It will give you minimal information but should include your hours of sleep. If your A10 has a built in modem that sends reports to the DME and Resmed automatically, all you need to do is register at the "My Air" site, which is a Resmed site. You won't even need to take your SD card out of your machine to find out how many hours of sleep it recorded.

Yes, I"m registered with MY Air. There wasn't anything unusual on my report that day. I check it daily. My score was even pretty good for that night. In the high 90's, but it did record the hours, minus, the ones that I noticed were missing. I may never figure it out. Just so it doesn't happen again. If so, I'll insist on a new machine.
