I'm using a SystemOne and filled my humidifier as I always do. Last night was a fairly normal night. 97% mask fit, 7.5hrs.
Woke up this morning and I don't think it used a single drop of water. I turned the machine on to double check. Humidity was set to 3.
The plate was a little warm.
But I dumped out a nearly full tank.

Re: Humidifier working?
Cpap humidifiers detect ambient moisture and respond to it.
Water was probably not used because it was not needed.

I agree....If the humidity in your geographical area is high the air in your home may be saturated and the humidifier knows that.chunkyfrog wrote:Cpap humidifiers detect ambient moisture and respond to it.

Re: Humidifier working?
A setting of 3 on a System One machine using the new default system one humidification mode (that's what the default is if the heated hose isn't used) doesn't really add much water at all.
So first of all it's actually a rather low setting in terms of how much water is added and secondly it does have a humidity sensor in the machine and if the ambient humidity is already more than what a setting of 3 is supposed to give (they never tell us how much unless the heated hose is attached) then it isn't going to need to add much, if any, added moisture to the air so water consumption will be minimal.
So if a setting of 3 is supposed to deliver 40% humidity...and the ambient humidity is 45% or more...no water is going to be used.
Especially true if it is raining outside and the windows are open so that the ambient humidity inside is almost as much as outside...but doesn't necessarily have to be raining.
Now if a heated hose is being used...then there are additional settings and what those settings mean and the default system one humidification mode isn't primary humidification.
If unsure about whether your hose is the heated hose or not (it's an optional feature) the heated hose has a black coupling on the end that connects to the humidifier.
