P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
Certainly, it is not worth fighting over. I simply shared my experience but palerider, as usual, you had to put your two cents worth in, in your usual way. Palerider -you wanted to find accurate information. All I did was, state my experience but it is worth nothing to you. You said, in so many words, that you didn't believe me - I must be wrong, in your mind, while others must be right.
Pugsy and chunkyfrog gave their opinions and thoughts. That's fine. I have no quarrel with their comments. They know how to do it without offending and they make good points about this headgear.
I just wish you could respond, like them, in a nicer manner, not slamming my actual experience (and lots of others on this forum in other threads) as wrong!
Enough! I am done with this thread. I only shared my experience to try and help the OP.

I contend that as long as the product is manufactured where it is (in China?),
The quality and consistency will remain unpredictable. So much for manufacturing in the third world!
Even identical length brand new straps side by side, the stretchiness may vary, as well as
the amount of elastic recovery. Tolerances vary greatly, and might never be disclosed to the consumer.
Manufacturing QC will vary continuously, so nothing is reliable as we would like.

you could very well be right, and the next person that compares them might find that the pink one is looser... heh.chunkyfrog wrote:I contend that as long as the product is manufactured where it is (in China?),

Since it's a for hers, it should cost 30% less, as women make less. Jim

LOL - This is why I love forums. Where else would people get this passionate over cpap headgear length? Good times...
Since a picture or two is worth a thousand words (see below). These are both brand new replacements that I received yesterday. I specifically ordered both because my wife's DME swore the pink model was about an inch smaller and I didn't believe her.

Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
Baja...I never doubted what you had and saw.
I can't explain what has happened but I did the same thing yesterday and mine were pretty much equal in length.
Why the difference? I have no idea.
Now it appears yours came out of a package that had nothing else in it...is that correct? Mine came out of a box where the entire mask is found and the headgear was already on the mask frame and I had to take it off to lay them side by side.
I don't know if that makes any difference or not the headgear frame or not...but it might.
Has ResMed changed the sizing and not the official description? They might have. Maybe they listened to the remarks about the headgear being a bit large for a good many people. So far the official ResMed statement is there is no change and it's very obvious that there is a difference with yours and a few other people.
What really needs to be done, and isn't easily done, is to measure large numbers of both colors and see if the difference is common in large numbers or was just something that happened in a handful of cases.
Your pair example and my pair example is a drop in the large bucket of available headgear.
I personally would welcome a slightly smaller "for her" headgear as being something we could count on.
I think it is needed but then I also think that there is a need for a headgear that is a little larger than the blue headgear.
Right now all we have to go on is what ResMed says about the product...if it is incorrect then that's ResMed's responsibility. Cpap.com uses promo material supplied by the manufacturers for all their product descriptions. They are going by what they are given or told by the manufacturers and the "official" statement is still "no size difference".

Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
We have 2 "test cases" here - the one that Baja has (pictures included) which is a very recent purchase. The other is my experience which is much older - could be a year or more older. I'm not sure but have been wearing the P10 for probably a year and this experience was with the first P10 that I bought. I wasn't sure which headgear might be right for me so I had the regular that came with the whole P10 package and bought the "for her" just in case. That's when I discovered that the "for her" was much to small for me - to the point of discomfort.

Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
Considering the location of the sweat shops where these parts are made, the length could vary day to day.
--or even with shift changes. It looks like they are knitted on automated machines,
but the yarn could be fed in under different tensions, making quite a bit of difference.
I really believe there should be at least three sizes. This "one size--blah, blah, blah" --irks me intensely.
No reason at all the knitting machine could not be programmed to spit out a longer or shorter strap.

would be better to make it adjustable .... solve all problems
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
Because of you and Baja I will be ordering the "for her version" headgear replacement. I was given the blue one and I love the P10 better than any other mask I have had but the blue strap stretches a bit too much even after washing. Thanks! I was debating about sewing a dart in it. Oops, Thanks to Stephen for his photo too.Hawthorne wrote:We have 2 "test cases" here - the one that Baja has (pictures included) which is a very recent purchase. Morbius, are you bored?
Re: P10 for Her Headgear is Smaller
3 test cases now - 2 with pictures that prove the blue one is longer. Thank you Baja and Stephen for posting the picture proof. Thank you postitnote, for taking a proven fact and buying on the basis of that!
