Can you tell us about your machine, mask, and setttings? I suspect your pressure starts off low, and that is why you feel like you can't breathe sometimes. Usually, bumping it up a little will fix that problem. Most people like at least 6 to start, while the machines are often set to start at only 4.

Why you wake up can be a variety of reasons. Do you feel the the mask was leaking or felt uncomfortable? Did you have any bad dreams or feel like your heart was racing? You could be having events if your settings are not ideal yet. Or you could be ending a sleep cycle which tends to wake some of us up. If your machine has data, we can help you with free software so that you can see it and make adjustments.

The stuffy nose could be from allergies. It could also be from not enough humidity, or even too much humidity. That usually takes some experientation to figure out what is best for you. Also, some people get a congested feeling if the mask rests on the bridge of their nose. Using a different style mask will usually solve that problem. The trick is to figure out what cause you are dealing with so that you find the right solution.

For waking up tired, it could be from deeper sleep and having to wake up while you are in that deep sleep. It could also be that your pressure settings are not ideal yet, and that could cause you to feel tired. Hopefully you machine will have data.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I agree about the stuffy nose could be from lack of humidity. It took me several months to get most of everything all worked out. There's the mask, the amount of air, humidity, pillow . . . From your post you sound like you'll do fine. Just keep at it.

Welcome to the group:
I have visited your beautiful country and loved it. My lady and I stayed a week in a tiny town called Haute Nendaz near Sion. Our time was thoroughly enjoyable although my college German didn't work very well in the French speaking Cantons.

I would return tomorrow if I could.

Does anyone know where to buy CPAP supplies in Geneva, Switzerland (not Geneva NY or Illinois)? Does one need a prescription here as we do at home?
I don't even know what the word for CPAP is in French.
Thanks in advance!
