Sleepyhead and Win 10

Post by rosacer » Sun Jul 19, 2015 9:06 pm

Hi everyone

I haven't been around for long time. As maybe some will remember I was trying to get rid of my CPAP after having had the green light from my specialist. It was winter time and I had sinus dryness problems so I decided to wait until summer time. I reduced the CPAP pressure to 6 cmH2O wile waiting. The AHI was all the time not more than 1.4 in the worst of the cases.

Guess what? two or 3 months ago I started to feel a kind of tingling on the head (I had this from time to time in the past) or like a pressure suddenly leaving my head. This happened once a week then more often until been each day. Then my memory get worst and worst. To check on the sleep apnea possibility I decided to increase the pressure to 7 cmH2O one week ago, I have noticed my memory started to improve and I was also more rested.

My conclusion is I still have some mild sleep apnea wish was disturbing my rest=memory. I continue to use my CPAP, I never reallys topped using it. Those are the news.

I wanted to know if you have some information about Sleepyhead for Windows 10. Do you know id Jedymark is working on a new version able to work on Windows 10 or do we need to keep a computer with Win 7/8.1 to use Sleepyhead?

Thanks for the info

Rosie

there shouldn't be any problem using SH 0.9.8-1 on win10.

There shouldn't need to be a new version for Windows 10 , also of the core stuff from Win 7/8.1 are similar enough that if works with them it should work just fine with Win 10. If nothing else use the compatibility checker thing in the Get Windows 10 app. Worst case make you sure you have everything backed up and if something goes wrong roll back to the previous OS. Being a certifed computer tech has it's usefulness

I have the release build for Windows 10 running in a VMware Player VM. That's build 10240, got it from MS as an update in the Windows 10 insider program couple of days ago...Anyways, tried sleepyhead, and seemed to work fine. Also just tried setting up my current data folder on the VM and looking at data. Does everything that I do on Windows 8.1, graphs, statistics, and overview all look fine, everything's good.

So no problems, works fine on Windows 10, sleep well!

RogerSc.

It sounds very technical to me about your setting up Windows 10 for cpap. My computer will apparently be automatically downloaded with Windows 10 around July 29th or so. (I currently have Windows 7).

I'm wondering if I need to do anything in advance of this event or just wait and see?

As long as your sd card reader works then it should be fine

I just got a new copy of win 7 with my new desktop PC and it clearly says after clicking the white window icon in the taskbar that I'll have to reserve a copy of win 10 before it can be downloaded. I don't think MS would 'automatically' install a whole new version without input from the owner of the machine in question. At least I hope not.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

PC's won't apply the update without your permission. All that "reserving your copy of Windows 10" does is help to ensure that your computer is downloaded with the Windows 10 upgrade in the first wave of upgrades. Users that aren't part of the Windows 10 Insider program or don't reserve their copy may have to wait a few days *smile* to get Windows 10, but it will require you to do the update yourself. I'm not in a crashing hurry to update my computer to Windows 10 myself, especially since I've already seen it so it isn't brand spanking new for me *smile*.

Personally, I'm not interested in the classic update thing where all my old stuff is retained, I want to do a fresh install, or an upgrade that doesn't retain anything. That gives you a clean registry, and everything is nice and fast and clean. Not sure how that's going to work. I have read that it may work like the Windows 8 update worked (asks you if you want to do an update without keeping anything), or making media (DVD) will make it easier. I like to have media anyways, so no problem there.

Time will tell how the update process works, but you will schedule your own update. You won't have to update to Windows 10 until you're ready, or ever, if you choose not to update.

I also do not plan to install the upgrade for a few weeks. Lets millions of people test it, and when the issues, if any, are worked out, I will install the upgrade on one or two computers, then the rest. All of mine are W7 at the moment.

The Win10 icon means you will get your reserved copy of W10 downloaded, but you have to choose when to install.

I'm getting emails from Microsoft reminding me about the forthcoming update. Looking forward to the bright, shiny new system. I'm anticipating that the SD card reader will continue to work as well as it has been.

I'd be very afraid of letting the Win10 install happen on my own PC. Microshaft has always broken LOTS of things when they release a new major version of Windows.
