Hi, I'm new here.

Post by EddieDreamer » Thu Jul 23, 2015 10:27 am

Hello, EddieDreamer here. I'm a brand new BiPAP user (12 over 6). Just got my ResMed AirCurve10 last week. The first week has been a bit of a struggle , that's a given. I'm a night shift worker. I liken the experience to my first week of doing graveyard shifts. I look forward to meeting all of you, getting great advice, support, tough love, etc. I hope that you accept me and all of my imaginary friends into your community.
I don't watch TV. I love the shows that play in my head.

Welcome to forum... You found a good place. Work all your therapy issues out here. Lots of knowledge here.

Take 15 minutes and review this youtube video it will help you understand what is going on.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gie2dhqP2c

This video put the whole thing in perspective for me.

It should be required viewing for any one who is new. You can show it to your family and friends so they will understand and can be supportive of you.

I wish you well...

That's probably the nicest introduction to the forum I've ever seen, EddieDreamer. Welcome to CPAPtalk.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Thank you sir. I tend to look at things from a community perspective. I just moved into this CPAPville neighborhood and first impressions matter.
As I said above, this first week has been a bit of a struggle. Anxiety, frustration, and fatigue have been keeping all my other imaginary friends company this past week. But how do you think things would go if my first post was me simply bitching, moaning, and complaining about everything.
What I need to make sure of is that I conduct myself in a way that makes me feel welcome. I've snored (jackhammered) my way through most of my adult life to the point where I have trouble remembering the last time I didn't have my own separate bedroom. I'm in pretty deep trouble with my apnea, as well. More than 70 episodes an hour during my last sleep study. I'll save a lot of people the needless trouble of reminding me of my situation. This is Do or Die. Believe me, I'm insanely aware of this. So I'll try my best to stay positive, understanding that no matter how tired or cranky I feel. I'm not going to let it reflect on my chats with you guys. This community is a vast resource of information. I'd be totally foolish not to take advantage of that. You guys are my lifeline. I humbly ask all of you for help.

That golden streaking avatar is K-10, The Amazing Thunderdog. He has been my faithful Chusky (Chow Chow/Husky mix) companion for the past 14 years. He's an incredible and lovable free spirit. Obedient, loyal, gentle, and proud, he's been the greatest friend anyone can ask for. He's a bit spoiled as well, a notch above all the other dogs and he knows it (Hence the K-10 moniker). We've shared a long, kick-ass awesome journey together and I can see his beautiful hunting grounds wonderfully spread across the valley ahead of us. His eyes are now cloudy and his gait is now slow. But our walks are still the highlight of his day. His nose is just as sharp as ever and the scent of an eternity of squirrels, rabbits, and lovely maidens guide him happily along, tail wagging. I cherish every step we take together. Life is precious. I'll get into my Imaginary friends later. For now, all I can say is that one of my more vocal sprites is telling me to stop crying and finish the laundry.

I'm EddieDreamer. I'm new to CPAPville and I hope that you guys accept me and guide me throughout the process.

If the future of our dealings with you is anything like today's, you'll be the brightest new light we've had in a long time, and we've just come out of quite a dark one... but hopefully it's over now.

I know what you mean about K-10, my two Samoyed guys have been gone now about 5 yrs but I can't believe how much I still miss them - they don't get any better than they were (except maybe for K-10 ) as fabulous friends. Avatar is Ecco, who used to sort of ride them!

PS - what part of MN are you from? Used to live there very many decades ago, both in the N. (visiting) and Minneapolis (much longer visit ).

Thank you for your kindness. I hope I can stick around for awhile.

Thunder's been battling tumors for the past 2 years. Truth be told I feel that he's battled long enough. It's gonna really suck for Poofer. That cat actually followed us 2 miles to home as a kitten during one walk back in 2007. I've belonged to her ever since. I have to check that all the windows are closed before we leave on our daily stroll otherwise she would follow us around everywhere still. Not crazy enough for ya? Her son Phelps is a constant follower as well.

I'm nowhere close to the north or the Twin Cities. I'm only a long walk from Iowa, in fact. I've worked in Iowa the past 2 and a half years. I wouldn't drive in Minneapolis even if someone held a gun to my head. I love my quiet, simple, small town life.

Welcome! I also like your avatar. Kinda makes me want to show off my Australian Shepherd... Molly. She's from Shmolly. Anyway, work all your issues here and know that proper therapy will add years to your life along with making you feel MUCH, MUCH better.

Yeah, the cloudy eyes are a tip off to advanced aging... I hate to see that. Also the fur along the spine gets faded and tatty, not to mention the arthritic joints. At least for now my joints, fur and eyes are okay, but maybe my wife is just humoring me with her sunny outlook on life.

Welcome, Eddie, you're a breath of fresh air, and sorely needed. Wish my lab mix, Freddie, could play with k-10, he has trouble finding playmates when we're away from the dog park. We'll do our best to get you through the difficulties and to the point where you just take it for granted when you lie down to sleep with your machine.
