Used cpap
Used cpap
I have a used ResMed s9 cpap machine. I was prescribed an auto cpap about a year and a half ago and it hasn't been used since then. I never had any problems with it and have never smoked. It has 5314 run hours on it. I have two questions. First where would I be able to sell it? I looked at second wind and believe it has too many run hours. Second hour much would it be worth? I also have a new in package climate line hose and humidifier. Any information is much appreciated.

Re: Used cpap
How come the CPAP didn't work for you? Just out of curiosity.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Used cpap
The cpap worked. My preasure was set at 18 which almost maxed out the machine. I had a second sleep study done and my Dr. At my urging recommended an auto cpap.

Re: Used cpap
That doesn't compute, at 18 cm he should have called for a bi-pap, a APAP has the same treatment range as your present machine, 4 to 20 cm. JimAl N wrote:The cpap worked. Re: Used cpap
They started with bipap in the study. For some reason I couldn't breathe through my nose. The lady doing the study thought it was because of the bipap so she changed it back fairly early in the study to cpap. I think it is much more likely allergies to something around as they were doing a ot of construction. But at any rate I spent the entire night congested which never happens at home unless I have a severe cold. Any how no bipap just the auto set but the preasure don't go near as high so that itself is a blessing

Re: Used cpap
I agree with Jim. This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You're also showing a pressure of 16 cm. in your profile. Your straight pressure ("Elite" I presume) will go to a pressure of 20 cm. and that's all the higher an APAP (Auto-adjusting/titrating CPAP) will go, too. If you "need" something over 20 cm. (either constantly or occasionally), then you'd need a Bi-level machine of some type (most are Auto-adjusting these days). Even at those higher pressures (typically over about 16 cm.) bi-levels will probably serve the user much better anyway.Goofproof wrote:That doesn't compute, at 18 cm he should have called for a bi-pap, a APAP has the same treatment range as your present machine, 4 to 20 cm. This is another "red flag". Doesn't make sense.Al N wrote:They started with bipap in the study. For some reason I couldn't breathe through my nose. This whole scenario is a little strange.
In any case, I'd advise keeping the CPAP as a backup. Too many hours to get anything out of it and if you DON'T have a backup, you may need one some night.

Re: Used cpap
Thank you for all your responses. Sorry for any red flags all of the info on there is from well over a year ago. I didn't want to or try to sell it on hear just asked for advice. Don't know why asking for advice raises red flags.

But, you did say this in your first post.Al N wrote:Thank you for all your responses. Sorry for any red flags all of the info on there is from well over a year ago. I didn't want to or try to sell it on hear just asked for advice. Don't know why asking for advice raises red flags.
The "red flags" came from what you described from your sleep study and that with higher pressures they recommended an Auto CPAP and not a Bi-level machine.......and, that the person doing your sleep study blamed your congestion on the bi-level machine.First where would I be able to sell it? I looked at second wind and believe it has too many run hours. Second hour much would it be worth?

Re: Used cpap
I tried Craig's list. I got fine people wanting to send casheriers checks with extr money included. Scams I'm sure. Plus not sure what it was worth. Think I will just put it back away and forget about it.

Re: Used cpap
ResMed S9 is one of the most popular CPAP machines ever. There must be thousands of them on CraigsList and at least a few in your area right now. Price it for a little less than all the other ones and recognize that scams are just part of life in the 21st century.Al N wrote:I tried Craig's list.
