Thanks Janknitz! When I told my Dr yesterday what I wanted she listened and said "not a problem at all but first listen to the Techs, see what they suggest....but in the end when you go to buy you get what you want and I will write the order for you"...So that made me feel good. I live in Canada so the DME (Or Resp Tech I'm calling them)...same idea...will be the one to dispense. The only issue for me is where I live and what is available. I am in a smaller town and the Tech is an hour drive away and kind of my only option. There is another one over a mountainside from me...another 1 1/2 hr drive away that is same company just different location. So I don't have much choice. BUT, in saying that....I am prepared to hoist up my panties and speak my wishes for the machine and mask...(of course depending on fit)...In the end it is my money being spent and since they only replace every 5 yrs, I want the latest updated machine. Reading on here peoples reviews has been helpful too.

Who knows...they may offer me the one I want for my one month trial! Either way I am looking forward to getting tx and in the end hopefully feeling better than I do now!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

CPAP.COM QUESTION

Just wondering if other Canadians have ordered off this site and have noticed difference in prices for equipment btw Canada and USA (even with exchange are you still saving money?) Any issues with getting it shipped to Canada and across the border?
Thanks.

cpap.com can't ship ResMed or Respironics products outside the US.
It's not that cpap.com doesn't want to but it's ResMed and Respironics putting the restriction in place.

Now there are ways to get around the restriction...sort of...like having a post office box on the US side and Canadians drive over and pick up their mail...or sometimes those places that will reship for you can be used...or ship to a family member or friend in the US and have them in turn ship/mail to you.

I checked with the company that will be selling me the machine when the time comes. What a difference in price!!

Resmed Airsense 10 Auto For Her with Humidifier USA $883.00
Resmed Airsense 10 Auto For Her with Humidifier Canada $2800.00

They also said the masks range from $200-$400 (Airfit P10 for example) I see on CPAP.com quite a difference in price in USA funds that this! I'm not surprised, but a little discouraged at the gouging.

Thank goodness for insurance!

Scratch that Canadian price Kakkles. That is the DME price and their favorite game is hosing us on supplies, etc. I am in Western Canada too, got hosed by the supplier here but learned a valuable lesson ($$$$$) when I started out. If your insurance will pay for an online purchase, just go to clinicalsleep.com ( Vancouver-). I bought a new machine from them last year and the price was comparable to cpap.com prices. I buy my regular supplies from cpap.com as long as they are not stated Resmed or Respironics, those I get from clinicalsleep. I live close to the mountains too (southern Alberta) and have to drive to a city to get what I need, so have not used that DME once I learned that their prices are waaayyy too steep. If you need to talk, just PM me and I will help out where I can.
Cheers
Nan

Thanks Nan! I may end up PMing you. I get 80% covered by insurance so paying 20% of the bill. it just amazes me the markup they do and then they wonder why people get upset. Is clinicalsleep.com good about warranties and returning items for repair if needed? I just wonder how that would be as opposed to having the machine bought "local". I guess shipping through mail would be the deal.

I will PM you...Im starting to think of more questions! lol

No problems with returns or warranties. These machines rarely breakdown, some members here have had the same one for 8 to 10 years I just kept my brick as a back up and for camping and its over 5 years old, I use my new one every night at home. I have never been back to my DME (rip off artists) and have had NO problems buying online.
Cheers
