Try it anyway - put it together the 'right' way and then decide about nostrils - don't think ahead, but you might be surprised!

It doesn't look like a conventional nasal or FF mask - that's the point, but it will work if done correctly.

the picture of the mask in use, is right,

the video I posted shows how to assemble the mask.

the mask is *NOT* assembled correctly.

krelvin found the video yesterday, so kudos to him.

Yes, my goal is to follow that video's steps. But what about my broken hose?

Hasn't that already been addressed by someone else trying to help?

It looks like you turned part of it inside out! The tape will fix the hose.

If nothing else, take the mask and all it's pieces to your local DME shop and ask them to put it together for you. How about your dad maybe? Is he better with putting stuff together. A friend or neighbor? Don't be embarrassed to ask someone for help!

Black ELECTRICAL tape. That's what you need to ask for at the hardware store or Walmart even.

You could take the mask with and maybe someone at Orchard could put it together for you. The kids at our home center are really friendly and helpful.

Home Depot may be open where you are too. Also Loews. Call first so that you won't make a trip for nothing. If you can't find a place that is open, then go tomorrow morning.

I googled the one closest to his house and he has about 3.5 hours to get there before they close. Lol, I googled the hours on a store 2150 miles away from me. We don't have an Orchard supply here so now of course I want to go shopping there!

On the page you loaded the flickr photos look for the photo with the mask that has the blue strap attached to it. That part closest to the straps (which is facing left on my screen) is where you place your mouth/chin. The holes need "pillows" put back in them. You want to make sure they taper towards the top. If you put them to your nose wrong you will be able to tell. It will feel weird. They have to be like this: / \ narrowest to the top or next to your nose holes That rounded flap on the bottom will sort of support under your chin area like if I placed my hand cupped there (don't know why I would I would but imagine that). Then gradually tighten the velcro on each strap till it feels snug but not tight. You don't want leaks.

As for that rip, that's how my Dyson hose ripped! Taping tided me over till I got a new hose from Amazon and I vacuum a lot! Start with the rip and then tape working down to the rubber end. Keep wrapping till it holds well. A new hose is cheap. Less than $10.

You're going to be fine. You'll wear this to bed tonight!

I've been reading all of these posts trying to teach Enchanter how to assemble a mask. I don't understand his helplessness. Just Google the mask, and it will show pictures of what it looks like when assembled. Or go to YouTube and find a video showing how to assemble it. It's not rocket science nor does it require an engineering degree. It's just a mask. He's behaving helplessly and many people are enabling him.
