P10 headgear and pillow replacement intervals

Post by Paul_H » Mon May 11, 2015 8:30 pm

How often do you replace the headgear and pillows for your ResMed P10 mask? I bought and received my first one in early October last year. Love it. My 4th mask, and it is the keeper.

I'm wondering how often people replace the headgear and pillows. I replaced my nose pillows in early February, so only 4 months from the original ones. I hardly detected a difference, but there was a small noticeable difference between the old and new ones, though I probably could have pushed the old ones another for another few months of use.

I just put on new headgear for the first time today, so that is 7 months of use from the original. The difference here is easier to quantify: the new headgear is about 1 1/2" shorter than the original, after 7 months of use, and is also more "elasticy."

Thanks,

Paul

well, my roomie got his p10 last june, and I got mine in august. we're both on our first strap and pillows. I've washed my strap a few times to shrink it, and wipe the pillows to clean em.

I've decided to get a new P10 once a year - I change the pillows twice a year. Works for me... YMMV

I'm with Nick; a new P10 annually, with a new pillow halfway through the year.

I got 10 months of use out of my first P10 headgear before I had to retire it as washing in hot water trick to help it shrink back to fit my small head no longer worked and it was so loose that the leaks were massive and disturbed my sleep.
Nasal pillows...I have always got months and months and months of use from any nasal pillow mask I have ever used and the P10 is no different.

My old stretched out headgear...didn't go to waste though. I went to someone whose head was quite a bit larger than mine and they just couldn't get comfortable with the headgear out of the box and didn't want to take months for it to get stretched out.

I have good insurance so I change my headset every 3 months and the pillow every month, as per my RX.

I also use P10 but will try another pillow mask when this one wears out.Its stupid that you cannot adjust the headset.

*shrugs* might be stupid, but it fits all three people in this house that are using it, and apparently the vast majority of other people... adding adjustments, and buckles, or whatever would make it heavier, and more cumbersome... but, a bit more universal, I suppose.

I wonder if fine velcro would stick to it, like it does to the regular headgear... *ponder*

It fits me fine but its starting to stretch,,,,,no adjustment to tighten the stretch overtime is what is ridiculous.

you are aware of the 'shrinks when wet' bit?

all headgear stretches, all elastic stretches... *shrugss 2, the sequal*

I wore my first p10 for about 10 months before the stretching of the headgear started to cause leaks (still relatively small at that point) that couldn't be solved by washing. I used the same pillows that entire time, too.
