camping and resmed9

Post by greenrivercamping » Mon May 11, 2015 10:41 am

Hi everyone,
It's almost time to go trailer camping this year and another shot at trying to figure out how to use my cpap machine with a battery. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to accomplish this. I tried on my own last year and could only get my machine to run for about three hours before it turned off.

Here are some specifics (please keep in mind, I have no idea what I am doing but am learning):
~resmed9 machine, I can go without the humidifier.
~I have daily access to a 400w generator, so I have some recharging ability.
~I have a power inverter 410 watts/820 peak watts
~I have a psx2 battery
*would an micro start anti-gravity battery work?

Last summer I thought I had it figured out and plugged the resmed into the inverter which was clamped onto the battery. This lasted 3 hours and then an alarm on the inverter went off and wouldn't work any longer. Obviously I didn't have this figured out. Is there someone out there that can explain how I can make my cpap machine work using these items and any other items necessary to make this machine work? And explain it like I am a child, born yesterday, just landed on earth.... take your pic! Also, I would like to spend as little money as possible and everything will be in my trailer so weight really isn't an issue, however, the lighter the better.
Thank you in advance for any advice, input you can share

I suggest you do a little searching on the forum here, because these issues have been covered *extensively*.

There are several active threads that will address your questions, but here are some simple instructions.
1. Get this https://www.cpap.com/productpage/DC-Con ... hines.html
2. Buy a 12V battery. Whatever size you fell will work for your needs. An AGM deep cycle marine battery is the best choice.
3. Get some sort of battery charge tester to tell how much juice your battery has left on a daily basis.
4. Get a battery charging system for home & keep your 12V battery topped off.
5 Get some sort of battery case to keep the battery in while in use.
6. Don't use your heated humidifier as it will eat power faster.

My current recommendation at the end of this thread:

This battery has about twice the power of your psx2, and about 7 times the power of the anti-gravity. Don't use humidity (tell us if you're going to a desert). Get the resmed DC/DC converter instead of the inverter. How many nights do you need?
