My sleep study looked similar to yours - it took about a year - yes 1 year and 100% compliance before things turned around.
My GP believes in the concept of "sleep deficit " - who knows ... Assuming you are refraining from alcohol, sugars and late eating - based on my experience I would add the following :
Chin strap helped - used one from Resmed . Don't know why but " hanging the hose" making it drop from above helped.
Lastly, you mentioned taking it off the last two hours - don't do that ! For me,in the 3 sleep cycle ( the last 2/3 hours of sleep) is when I have most of the apneas.
CPAP works but no relief of symptoms
Re: CPAP works but no relief of symptoms
I'm wondering if maybe my deficit is just THAT great, and that's why I feel no better even when my stats say otherwise.moz wrote: My GP believes in the concept of "sleep deficit " - who knows ...
You should always waste time when you don't have any. Time is not the boss of you. Rule 408.
Re: CPAP works but no relief of symptoms
Thank you for your input! I have been wondering about the "sleep debt". Do you really feel like your old self since you've reached that 1 year at 100% compliance? It seems like such a long time. I know I have to be patient, but I would be devastated if I waited one entire year and then realized it's still not helping and I needed to look elsewhere to fix my problemmoz wrote:My sleep study looked similar to yours - it took about a year - yes 1 year and 100% compliance before things turned around.

I just bought a chin strap. I do have problems with my mouth dropping open during the night and moving my tongue down, which then makes me swallow air and get dry mouth. Hopefully that will help!
However, I'm wondering why you are saying "refraining from sugars"? I understand alcohol and late eating, but refraining from any sugar forever? I'm assuming you mean added sugars, and I do eat them in moderation (1-2 times a week), but I'm not sure I'm ready to give up sweets entirely, unless it really will fix all of my problems I did however follow a dairy, sugar and gluten-free diet for 2 months before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and it did not change anything health-wise.

This is where I am. One year. I'm better, but still feel bad everyday. And it is devastating, demoralizing, depressing, and crushing.Thank you for your input! Re: CPAP works but no relief of symptoms
I'm sorry you still feel bad I hope you'll figure it out. Maybe you need to explore other problems that might be causing your symptoms? It could be a combination of sleep apnea and something else, and now that you've fixed the sleep apnea, you need to fix the other problem? Don't give up!Noctuary wrote:This is where I am. One year.
