For four years I travelled with a Zzzz-PAp machine, a forerunner to the current XT Fit machine. It failed in the middle of a trip, causing an episode of atrial fibrillation, but I had no idea that it had failed until my doctor checked it out -- it was blowing air but at a pressure of about 3.
I'd like to replace it with the XT Fit. I love the size, and I have an almost brand new humidifier for it. But I don't trust it completely. If I buy it, I want to be able to check the pressure.
Does anyone have experience with the CPAP pressure meter available from Amazon and other vendors?

It's certainly cheaper and smaller than any of the other manometers I have seen.

Re: Cheap Manometer
I just use the CPAP hose. Just have the tube go down from the machine about 2 feet and then up. A giant "U". Pour water down the tube and fill it so it is above the bottom by a foot or so. Notice that the water level is the same at both sides of the U. Mark the level on the hose (piece of tape). Without moving the hose turn the machine on. A pressure of 12cm-H2O will cause the water level to go down by 6 cm in part of the hose, and raise by 6 cm in the other. So if the water level raises by 6 (12/2) then the machine is delivering a pressure of 12.el344 wrote:For four years I travelled with a Zzzz-PAp machine, a forerunner to the current XT Fit machine. You can get a digital manometer from ebay for about that amount of money, and not have to squint and guess.el344 wrote:For four years I travelled with a Zzzz-PAp machine, a forerunner to the current XT Fit machine. Re: Cheap Manometer
If you have a ruler that has MM/CM measurements, you can make your own with that and a container of water.

There are others in the archives of the forum. Just go to the Search line and put in "homemade manometer" and start looking through the links.

Re: Cheap Manometer
Thanks for all the suggestions. Since simplicity and size are my big issue, I'll invest in a guage manometer if I decide to buy an XT Fit.
