Sore

Post by JCONNELL5 » Thu Jan 11, 2024 2:53 pm

So I woke up with a sore filled with pus on my cheek. It’s where my mask sits. I’m going to assume this is a pressure sore from my nightmares. Maybe where my mask rubs my face during my nightmares because I do make sure my mask is sanitized every morning. And I just changed meds and my nightmares came back. Has anyone ever experienced a sore like this? If so how do you get them to heal quickly?

Which model mask are you using? Have you looked it up on YouTube and watched some videos on proper fitting and adjusting?

Are you sure it's not a pimple?

Please don't rely on internet forums for medical advice about treating infections. Talk to your doctor.

Or just take your chances.
Life is short anyway--why fight it?

If the sore is infected, be sure to seek medical advice on how to treat it! Some infections on the face can drain into the sinus near the brain. It's very rare, but can be dangerous.

Don't put the mask over that area until it's completely healed. See if you can obtain another mask that doesn't touch your face anywhere near the sore. Pressure sores can be shaped like volcanoes, there's more underneath the skin than you can see above it. So you're going to want to not put pressure around it, either.

Is your mask very tight, or do you have very sensitive skin? Are you prone to contact dermatitis or acne? Which mask are you using?
