The UMFF mask. I have been having such problems with mouth leaks lately that I was feeling pre cpap again. I decided, on the advice of the people here, to switch back to the FFM for a while. I woke up this morning feeling awake and alert again The humidifier whas right where it should have been as far as water levels and all was good. This mask is hard to get used to after using the aura for a couple of weeks now but the benefit is incredible. So I guess for the time being I will join the ranks of the FFM crowd.
And the winner is......

I second your choice. The last thing I wanted was a full face mask. Its not really that I am claustrophobic or anything, but it seemed so bulky, and I am a stomach sleeper since I was a baby. Infact the first two sleep studies I had, they had to keep coming in repeatedly to roll me on my back, i just kept going on to my stomach. So knowing that I wouldn't be able to sleep on my stomach, I resisted trying a FFmask. I was initially set up with the Swift nasal, which I actually really liked a lot, it was very comfortable and allowed me to sleep face first. However even using dental appliance and chin straps I was still waking up with air hissing through parted lips. I could not tape, it just isnt' something I want to try. So I caved in and bought the UMFF mask. I love it. It has been over 2 months now. I can't really sleep on my stomach, but I have adapted to side sleeping quite well with a body pillow, so I am almost on my stomach, kind of like side/ stomach. sometimes if my pillow hits the top of the mask there is a small leak which wakes me up, i readjust my pillow and mask and back to sleep. it doesn't happen that often.
I am glad you have found something that works for you. I don't know why the FF mask gets such a bad reputation. I think it works great. I initially got a lot of marks on my face from the FF mask, but once i realized it didin't have to be SOOO tight, i only get minor ones that have almost completely faded by the time I leave my house in the morning for work.

yes, i agree with you that UMFF is a winner and a relief for my mouth breathing. i still have to de-stuff my nose every night, no matter what i use. but it's a relief not to have to worry about a nasal mask/system not working. the UMFF is sort of my teddy bear mask--the no-risk alternative. the only thing i still dream about is a UMFF activa. i love the squooshy silicone and the bubble flexibility and would love to see them bring it to a full-face mask.

Hey nothing wrong with switching masks, I switch every couple weeks from a UltraMirage2 and taping the mouth and back to the UMFF again.
Everytime I switch I say oh that one works better. I bought a large UM2 nasal this time around vs a Std cushion and it fits much better and doesn't cut into the bottom of my nose.
