Re: CPAP vs APAP settings

Maybe? I would like to think I'm one of them, but then I'm biased. I should amend that to say, "The thoughtful human beings have been taken or have given up online dating." Because it is a strange, scary place my friends. I was very naive even in my 40s and got into some situations that could have t...

I'm pretty sure all the thoughtful human beings are already taken.

Re: Cleaning climate line tubing

kitty mom: please tell us how the hair dryer works. way back I used a heat gun and destroyed a tube ymmv. I don't know what a heat gun is but I would certainly monitor the hose carefully and not put the dryer on high for long. I use my hair dryer to dry a lot of things. My nails, wet shirts, crafts...

Re: Cleaning climate line tubing

For the first 30 minutes after you turn a Resmed machine of, in gently blows air into the system clearing away residual humidity (I don't know about rainout, haven't had that in many years). I set a timer in winter and disconnect my heated hose and the humidifier when it rings - because if I leave ...

Re: Cleaning climate line tubing

All I got is dry air from the baseboards right now, soon to be followed by dry air from the pellet stove. Even with the pot of water that steams on top all day it’s dry! Wow, I'm surprised you feel so dry. According to Weather.com it's currently 63% humidity where I live. But I don't have forced ai...

Re: Does Anyone Hate their CPAP?

Yes. CPAP is awful, most patients quit within the first year, yet for some bizarre reason people call it “The Gold Standard.” I am surprised that anyone can actually fall sleep using one. I tried CPAP for 3 months. The sensation of something touching my face prevents me from physically being able t...

Re: Cleaning climate line tubing

I run the maskfit feature on mine. You have to let it get to where the heat in the hose and empty humidifier dry it out. Takes about 5-10 minutes. When I first started I bought an inflatable pump (for air mattresses and pool floats) and attached that to it to blow out the "big stuff" early in the d...

Re: CPAP vs APAP settings

Trust me, your prospective bed partner would much rather you strap on a CPAP and are quiet at night verses listening to your snoring and choking and gasping for air all night long. Ha! I couldn't get a date when I was ten years younger, more fit, and didn't have OSA. Online dating is just a meat ma...

Re: Cleaning climate line tubing

 I have a full-face mask and I wash that every day and my whole face before bed. I've come to the conclusion it's the moisture from the humidifier and maybe the heating element itself. The whole room has a slightly funky smell in the morning. I need to run a dehumidifier. I also need to buy a n...

Re: CPAP vs APAP settings

I think apap is more comfortable myself. Do you prefer cpap? No, I don't, I'm just curious because I thought I was being prescribed CPAP but realized it's not actually that. Someone said APAP is often used in place of a titation study, which I did not have, so I was just curious if people ever stay...

Re: CPAP vs APAP settings

Thanks for all the encouragement. You're being very kind. I know I'm just feeling very discouraged right now. Facing one's mortality is never easy. I have to tell myself I have a disability to get myself to use the machine. That's why I used that term. Otherwise I'm tempted to think I don't really n...

Re: CPAP vs APAP settings

You said you nearly lost a job due to the brain fog. It may well have been long covid or it could be OSA.
It was definitely Covid. It was temporary, acute, and terrifying. I couldn't process words. Actually I've heard what I experienced called "Medium Covid" which seems more accurate.

Re: CPAP vs APAP settings

I'm concerned that if I should need to stay over with a friend, or want to go camping, or maybe even possibly have sex one day, or if the power goes out, I won't be able to sleep at all without the machine, as someone else just posted. It's one thing to use glasses - it's not an electrical aid and I...
