As a way to cheat for the elastic, if you can find a small wide elastic band that fits snug on the hose you can turn your cover inside out, put it through the elastic, fold the cover back and with a needle and thread just do a slip stitch. Something that helped me during the first couple of weeks was to put the mask on without connecting it to the machine and go watch a good movie and breath through your nose as you do not have a full face mask. This helped me get use to having this alien thing on my face.

Yup, called a silent heart attack and many (mostly men) just ignore it and don't realize that they have had one. As per no family history, have they been tested for sleep apnea?
