Good news, her new ResMed machine has arrived and a member of the hospital respiratory team has taken a look at it for us and assisted us with setting it up. She spent her ...

Backing up SD card
Hi there, My mother has a loan Philips Dreamstation BIPAP AVAPS machine on loan that we are returning later this week as she gets her new ResMed machine tomorrow. Since we are returning the loan machine the SD card inside it will be going with it. I would like to make a copy of the data on the SD ca...

Re: ResMed Bacterial Filters
Thank you both so much, we won't worry about the bacterial filter :) ozij that plastic smell you talk about from the mask definitely would frustrate me, my mother's mask still smells strongly of plastic even after 5 months use and washing with soapy water every week, she says she doesn't notice it b...

ResMed Bacterial Filters
Hi there, My mother has a new ResMed Lumis VPAP 150 ST machine due to arrive today that her respiratory team want her to start using straight away. We have never used a ResMed machine before so I was watching some videos on YouTube about how to set them up. One thing that was mentioned is that you s...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
is the ResMed Lumis 150 VPAP ST still a bi-level machine itself? Yes, it is a bilevel machine. Doesn't take much to qualify as a bilevel...just using 2 distinct pressures instead of a single pressure. 2 pressures...one for inhale and one for exhale. Using any form of exhale relief or pressure suppo...

Re: Mask cleaning question
Just a quick question in regards to mask cleaning again...
Do people generally clean brand new masks when they purchase them prior to using them for the first time? Or are they safe to use straight out of the packaging?
Thanks all

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Thank you everyone for the replies :) , seems like I don't need to worry about firmware updates. It does more that any of the standard cpaps and it has a top pressure of 30 verse the 25 for bi-level machines and 20 for the airsense machines. Just in regards to this, is the ResMed Lumis 150 VPAP ST s...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Sorry to bump the thread *again*... But just another quick question in regards to the new ResMed machine. Do these machines have firmware that should or needs to be updated upon first use or at certain intervals? I noticed in the description of the Lumis 150 VPAP ST that it has wireless connectivity...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Sorry to bump the thread up, but just another update to this. I am happy to say that we have now purchased a new ResMed Lumis 150 VPAP ST device and it is due for delivery next week, which will be in time for my mother's respiratory doctor appointment :). One of the respiratory team members from the...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
This is a link to ResMed's online shop for Australia - it will tell you about the machine and its price, but the machine is "unavailable online". https://shop.resmed.com.au/collections/sleep-apnea-bipap-machines Thank you! I ended up phoning ResMed's Australian number and spoke with a lovely lady w...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Excellent, that is a couple of steps up from any of the general line of cpap machines. I might think about an oxygen monitor over time. The cheap finger devices can be off by up to 5% and can cause mis-reads for things like cold hands and por circulation. It is absolutely not required. True, I did ...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Just an update on the machine. I sent an email to the hospital respiratory team about our concerns for mum continuing to use the recalled Philips machine and they agreed it would be good to get her onto a ResMed machine, unfortunately we will have to pay for it but that is ok. They told me that the ...

Re: Continued use of recalled Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AVAPS machine
Pretty much all masks are interchangeable unless it is for one of the small portables. Even there all that is needed is an adapter. Does your mother have a constant monitor for SpO2? If not you may want to consider an O2ring or similar device. It records her pulsox with a 2 second sample rate and 4...
