Re: My Story: Do or Die
Thanks, Perrybucsdad. Yes, events like that make you appreciate life. Having died once, I value these "bonus" moments that God has given me. I also have had the "live life backwards" philosophy, and traveled extensively, from Manila to Moscow, meeting lots of interesting people in interesting places...

Re: My Story: Do or Die
Thank you Janknitz, we need to be mindful of why we are here (on Earth and also on CPAPTalk). If someone has been recently diagnosed, maybe they are in the early stages of their condition, where I was obviously near the end of the trail. Find strength to stick with the treatment, else you too might ...

My Story: Do or Die
Here's my story, maybe someone can benefit from this. I have a family history of snoring (CLUE #1) and my wife told me I stopped breathing at night (CLUE #2). Over the last few years, I was getting groggier and groggier during the day (CLUE #3) to the point my work was suffering. The groggier I got,...

Re: My Home-made CPAP Pillow
I met with my sleep doctor / neurologist today. I told him about my doing this and he thought it a good idea because he hears from numerous patients that the "official" pillows don't work well for some people and cost upwards to $100. Of course, he hears of failures more often than successes. So I f...

My Home-made CPAP Pillow
Rather than shell out some bucks for an official "CPAP Pillow", I decided to improvise. Works pretty well for me... 1 each firm cheap pillow... $5 1 each men's unused old tie from the closet... $0 A good night's rest on my tummy... priceless Cinch and tie the tie around the pillow about 2/3rds of th...

Re: I hate this
I'm a newbie, been on my machine about 1 month. For me, there's no choice... I do or die. So I do, and find a way to get around the challenges. You can do it. Stick with it. I don't know what your consequences are for not, I do know them for me.

Re: What is your CPAP pressure?
Dr. didn't know where to set mine, so he set it 5-15. I was having still some obstructives and rising number of centrals, they looked at the data and set it to 5-20. It went to 20 trying to "fix" me and damn near blew my face off so I set it back to 5-16 and found a way to sleep on my side/tummy whe...

Re: Checking Back in After 2 Months on CPAP
I did feel noticeably better after the first night on PAP, but not fantastically, just noticeably better. Over time, one month now, after each night I'm getting better and better. I'm still groggy and achy during most of the day, but no where as bad and the serious arrhythmias have gone (thank God, ...

Re: Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Tank?
After reading recently in the news about people rinsing their sinuses with tap water and getting brain eating amoebas (you can drink tap water, but don't put it up your nose !), I made note that I shall always use distilled water in my humidifier.. just. in. case.

Re: Transient Global Amnesia and OSA, there is no relation.
Your BP is out of control! Obviously you're taking the wrong combination of BP meds for you or you're taking other meds that are interfering with them or have some other medical issues. I hope you get your BP normalized and quickly. This is not good! Well, what I listed were extremes this year, but...

Re: Transient Global Amnesia and OSA, there is no relation.
Between the time I was diagnosed and when I got my machine, I was going downhill fast (getting/feeling worse quickly) and I had two episodes. Once in a store with my wife and son and I walked over to another aisle then I didn't know where I was or how to get back to them. Like I was lost and could n...
