Re: Do You Eat Gluten-Free?
...Another example that my boss and I were talking about yesterday. His cardiologist insists that he has to take Crestor for his cholesterol. My boss keeps begging to try a cheap generic statin and see if it works well enough, because the Crestor costs over $100/month. The doc insists that it has t...

This is your body trying to tell you something is seriously wrong. I would listen to it.Guest wrote:...The level of CO2 is uncomfortable all over my body, and the rate of breathing is faster than what allows me to sleep...

Re: Do You Eat Gluten-Free?
Actually, if one does a pubmed search you will find the studies that started the questions regarding HCFS. For some reason the body seems to handle HFCS differently than sucrose despite the glucose/fructose ratio being substantially similar. The best explanation for this is that sucrose has to have ...

Re: CPAP and pnumonia experience
Let me hop up on my soapbox and encourage everyone to get their pneumonia vaccine. It's cheap and safe. Not 100% effective, but improves the odds against a really big killer. The new one also covers main more strains, and you can get it even if you had the previous one that covered fewer strains. I...

Re: Do You Eat Gluten-Free?
Fructose is general is nothing to be concerned about, unless you have fructose sensitivity/intolerance, yes, its a real medical diagnosis, and has symptoms not terribly dissimilar from a mix of Celia disease and lactose intolerance. However, it is quite unusual, 1 in (if I remember correctly) severa...

Re: CPAP and pnumonia experience
I found my APAP helped quite a bit when I had a URI. I was def. better with it than without it. For stuffy nose, consider low dose oxymetazoline (one spray each side only, use a short spray [less than a full spray] if possible), short term only, and talk with your doctor beforehand if you have hyper...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Low T for Men
I've been on a statin for 7yrs now, and V d3. I did try to low the lipids with diet but it didnt' work. I take niacin as well but flush free supplement, seems to help with lowering trigs. What a pain all the meds. Used statin's for more than 8 years... last June, ended up in the Hospital with Stati...

...To compound the problem, self-diagnosis is cheaper and less invasive than the medically sanctioned methods; and is quite often accurate... I completely disagree with this. Self-diagnosis is often inaccurate. There is a reason diagnostic tests exist. The average person is not particularly good at...

I contend that doctors are more frequently correct than patient that attempt self-diagnosis.chunkyfrog wrote:So are you contending that doctors are always right?

Re: Surgery on Tuesday NOT APPROVED by BC BS
Maybe Dr. Park is not "in-network". Den . In vs. out of network generally doesn't matter if the person has PPO or FfS type of insurance coverage, just the amount the insurance pays will differ. If the person is part of an HMO they can indeed deny coverage if the doctor is out of network unless cert...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Low T for Men
Anyone on Niacin treatment for lipids may want to talk to their doctors about discontinuing the treatment. The latest research shows that its minimally effective and actually raises all cause mortality considerably. Current guidelines indicate that niacin therapy is no longer recommended for treatin...

Re: Gluten-Free Nonsense
The gluten fad is a double-edged sword, like most things in life. Gluten-free food is more accessible for those that are genuinely afflicted by a gluten related disorder, such as celiac disease. The other side of it is that people take it less seriously now/completely ignore it thinking its a fad an...

For certain surgeries/procedures insurances have very specific requirements, condition has to be a certain severity, trying and failing other therapies first, etc... You need to contact your insurance company for more information.
