Re: Do you remember your dreams?

It is common to remember dreams, and it does not mean you are sleeping poorly. In a normal sleep cycle, we go from stage 5 (REM) to the awake state after REM. The sleep cycle starts over at us awake and back then back into stage 1, transitional sleep. Each time we go through the cycle, REM becomes l...

Re: Two Masks With Different Results

Hey SAG, Yes, the hospital lab that I work for is AASM 09 compliant. Scoring N3 is still subjective. It depends on how the scoring tech see's it as well as how the doctor wants to interpenetrate the waves. Yes, "Mature" folks have less amplitude in N3, but the surprising factoid is that while men se...

Re: Two Masks With Different Results

If you are using an AutoCPAP or CPAP with Efficacy Data, you have to take into consideration which machine you are using. Resmed has mask settings on their machine so you have to pair the mask with the mask setting to get an accurate reading. Respironics machines do not pair masks, but each mask has...

The way my lab measures Hypopnea is a 30% reduction of air flow with a 4% desaturation of blood oxygen levels. It may end in arousal but does not have to end in arousal to be classified as a hypopnea.

Some labs measure hypopnea differently, but this is how we do it.

Bookbear, Thank you for your kind words... But, the forum has a life of its own. It would be just another software program living on the web without the great people who spend lots of time posting and reading. CPAPTalk has far surpassed my wildest expectations. There is a positive energy force that ...

Hi Lee Lee, There is a great video at the bottom of the product page on CPAP.COM. It shows the bedfan in action. I use it every night. Several of my friends from around the country have bought them as well and love it. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/tompkins-research-bed-fan-bedfan-night-sweats-co...

For me, it was as soon as I had the packing removed, or roughly about 5 days. Those were miserable days indeed. I love my CPAP.

I have the bedfan. I liked it so much that I recommended that CPAP.com look at it. We are all impressed not only by how nice it feels under the sheets, but by being able to turn your AC up. I have mine set on 78 at night instead of 74. This saves money. In Texas... lots of money.

I didn't have numbness. but it was no walk in the park. Perhaps you have a lot of cruddy scabs way up in your sinus passages. The doc will reach way back there and pull them out. Mine were pretty big and disgusting, but I could breathe when they were removed.

I was also given Afrin to use by my ENT, but only for a few days. It does the trick while recovering from a turbinate reduction. Better to be able to breathe than not, though I would not recommend using Afrin for just a stuffy nose. It is addictive and has rebound issues.

I have been using the Reptile Cable for months now. I have turned up my heated humdifier full blast and I still get no rainout. I make sure to unplug it every morning so that I don't burn down the house. I am not sure that it would be for everyone, due to it being jury-rigged and not approved by the...

Congratulations Josh, It is amazing to see real progress and inspiring to see a difficult procedure pay off as well as with yours. It sounds like you are on the very edge of getting rid of OSA. You are very close indeed. With an AHI of 7, your doctor may suspend your cpap use to see how you are feel...

Hi Kristy, If your sleep physician feels the need to put you on the Resmed or Respironics Servo machines, they should be the first to tell you. If it is a Cardiologist or Pulmononogist and they are not a sleep doctor, I would ask if one of these machines would help you. Best wishes and good sleep. T...

Hi Hosemec, Sorry to hear that you are having complications with your surgery.. I am one month out from the inferior turbinate reduction as well as a septoplasty and other sinus issues. I am completely healed and doing fine. I did get a secondary sinus infection after about the 3rd week. The procedu...
