Re: After 5+ years of CPAP use, my subconscious seems to be fighting it

Okay, I am looking into a lot of these suggestions. So a heartfelt thanks to those who replied. I downloaded (er, uploaded?) my latest Oscar info and am trying to get a better handle on understanding it, though I seem to be a bit allergic (or something) to getting the nuances. I'll keep working on i...

After 5+ years of CPAP use, my subconscious seems to be fighting it

The short version of my problem might be that for the first time in years, I seem to be ultra aware of the CPAP when I'm using it. This is manifesting in the worst teeth-grinding I've ever experienced--in fact, it's loud enough to wake both me AND my husband! It stops when I take off the CPAP and go...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

until I started having constant leak problems Closely watching three or four youtube videos on fitting and adjusting your specific mask might be helpful. It's the same mask I've been using. I started getting more leaks using nasal cushions after years of using them successfully, so I switched to na...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

I might try the DS2 to compare it, if I ever feel motivated enough to learn how to tweak the settings. At the moment, I'd rather spend my time decorating Christmas cookies. Here's the nice part....you can do things at your own pace when or even if you want to or not. No rush at all except to eat th...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

Thank you all for your input. Due to inertia, I am keeping the new DS as a backup and continuing to use the ResMed. I was very happy with it until I started having major leak problems, so I'm sure once I figure that out, I will be happy with it again. I do appreciate all the information (well, most ...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

Your choice but if you want to use the new DS2....consider trying it with a couple more cm baseline pressure if you are using the auto adjusting mode.....just to see if it brings down your AHI a bit or not. When I used the Respironics I had to use minimum of 10 cm to get AHI between 1 and 2. When I...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

If you do fedex tracking... Did your replacement ship from Respironics in Mt Pleasant, PA ? I have a fedex package coming tomorrow, which *fingers crossed*, I am hoping is my replacement DS2. It's been so long with NOTHING from them for notifications, but this showed up on my fedex account today. I...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

Question for the OP (or anyone else): I just got a FedEx delivery notification. Can you confirm where your unit was shipped from? FedEx doesn't provide any real shipper information. I'm just curious if my replacement has finally shipped--still waiting on my DME to get units for replacement with a R...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

Why do some people prefer a Ford and others prefer a Chevy? They both can get a person to where they want to go but sometimes how they go about getting a person there is a little different. Respironics machines that have auto adjusting algorithms can give the exact same results a person might get w...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

Ok fine, I am not a research assistant but here it is: I am not a research assistant either but when I quote something I provide where I got my information as a courtesy to others. Just common courtesy...which not everyone has I guess. Have a nice day. No need for more snide comments....they are of...

Re: My Dreamstation replacement arrived

I am curious as to why people think ResMed's algorithm is superior to Philips. Is it just because it makes us look better? I know I really like seeing an AHI of under 1 as opposed to an AHI of under 5. But it does make me wonder how much is just a numbers game. Why do people assume that respiratory ...

My Dreamstation replacement arrived

It's a new Dreamstation 2. My old one was the recalled Dreamstation 1. Since the recall, my DME switched me to the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet. I seem to remember people not liking the Dreamstation 2 as much as the original. But since this replacement is all paid off, and I'm only four months into mo...

Re: AHI better with new Airsense 10?

Well....the running out of water thing...that's what we call user error. I have to fill the water chamber every night and if I don't I will empty it. In fact I almost empty it sometimes even if I fill it up. Sometimes I have forgotten to fill it though....user error.  Definitely user err...

Re: AHI better with new Airsense 10?

Actually the AirSense water chambers will hold 380 mL of water and the Respironics 325 mL. I suspect the difference in water consumption is related more to the humidification system itself and maybe the settings used. The difference in AHI reported is probably due to the different algorithms that e...

AHI better with new Airsense 10?

In the almost 2 weeks since I've been using my new ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset, I've been getting much better AHI readings than I got with my old (recalled) Dreamstation. The settings are about the same, but while the Dreamstation was generally reporting AHI results of under 5, with the Airsense I've...
