Re: Weight GAIN after starting cpap
Tigerlily, One thing I've found helpful for myself when I'm injured (typically from overexertion a day or two previously) is to go to the gym with good shoes and set the treadmill to only 1 MPH while watching a program I like (the gym I go to has TVs and headphone jacks). Assuming your injuries woul...

Re: Weight GAIN after starting cpap
Sorry to hear you are feeling very tired again. "Stay the course" and you will feel better soon! I also gained weight after starting my CPAP therapy. Like you, I thought the improved sleep and health would help me lose weight. In my specific case, I blamed my continued bad eating habits and not the ...

Re: MD Rx
I was fortunate to get a sleep doc who wrote it absolutely to my benefit and a DME that ONLY does Autosets instead of Elites and wouldn't dream of an Escape. My Rx even has Climiteline required. That said, when this was written 18 months ago, I did not get an original. The DME printed it out for me....

Re: sensitivity to adhesives -- sleep study
Sadly, I found out I was allergic to the adhesive used in my initial sleep study (titration for me was a second visit). I told them that I'm allergic to the adhesive in those self-wraps they put around the bandage when you donate blood (almost turns into an armband). Well, she said this was some spe...

Re: AARGH! I have to do ANOTHER study?
Of course CPAP made my sleep worse: I haven't heard of anybody whose sleep it didn't make worse on the first night! For many people, cpap really does help from the beginning. I slept 5 hours straight *during the titration*, and that was probably the first time in at least 5 years, probably longer. ...

Re: After 18 months, waking up during the night again
The Flow Limitation graph is not exactly scaled really well. Is there an easy way to make this more visible, perhaps by reducing it's vertical range instead of going all the way to 1.0? http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag95/BrandonCPAP/CPAPtalk/2013-04-30_FlowLimitation_zpsdacefc49.png And thank ...

Re: After 18 months, waking up during the night again
Thanks Pugsy! Was on zero meds and currently on zero meds except for starting to take melatonin 3 mg (1-2x) some nights to try and help stay asleep. Lifestyle-wise, the only thing I can think of is that at the beginning of the year I intensified my workout slightly. Down 2" and 3 lbs since then. But...

After 18 months, waking up during the night again
Hello all. It's been a while since I've been on the forum. Sorry. I will make it a renewed effort to provide community support to others on the forum. Everything was going great until about this past December. Since then, I've been making up 2-3 times a night (that I remember). I hasn't affected me ...

Re: UPDATE ON MIKE'S MEDICAL SITUATION
I am so sorry to hear of the huge ordeal you've gone through and the continued anguish you are likely feeling right now. I am new to the board Dori, but I do wish the best for you and Mike and will keep him, you, and your familiar in my prayers. As another poster suggested, maybe in another week aft...

Re: CPAP and Intimacy
I wonder if you would act the same if you had astma? If you had an attack and went for the nebulizer and mask would you then feel you had to try and explain yourself while gasping for air? Or what about the guy who takes home a beautifull women the likes he's never seen to find that when he got her...

Re: CPAP and Intimacy
Look on the brightside, if you scare someone off because of a CPap machine, they are just sparing you wasted time with someone who is immature. I think that once you reach a certain age, people can be adults and handle something like wearing a mask to bed. It really isn't a big deal between grown u...

Re: No S9 ELITE yet but getting FREE Skin-it
I don't have one, but I would be willing to get one. Part of that might be because my better half is now using my S9 Autoset and I've got the S9 Elite (I was on straight CPAP anyways). I miss my machine even though I know this one does just fine for me. We have different settings, so it would be nic...

Re: Cost of ResMed S9 AutoSet, H5i HH, & Accessories
How do you manage to get the ClimateLine down to $19? I'd order one right now from CPAP.com if I could for that price. I see $51 on their site. The $19.00 is the price if you buy the entire system at one time & not if you are buying only the ClimateLine hose. Gotcha. Darn. I was on UHC last year an...

Re: CPAP and Intimacy
Hi- If you know them well enough to be intimate, you (should) know them well enough to explain about apnea... and we all know that those people will be intelligent, perceptive, empathetic, extra nice, have a sense of humor, etc. etc. Seriously though, what about people who take a lot of meds? Peopl...
